I tried the new Glowberry Prime – it smells like bubble bath but tastes just like a popular sweet | The Sun

PRIME Hydration has created a social media frenzy amongst youngsters following the launch of the brand – including its latest Glowberry flavour.

The craze has led to mobs of teens scrambling for a bottle in Asda stores and one dad even forked out £1,000 to buy his sons a pack for Christmas.

Their popularity is largely due to the faces behind the drinks.

Two huge YouTube stars KSI and Logan Paul, who together have 140million followers, launched the Prime brand in January last year.

At its launch in 2022 seven flavours were available – Ice Pop, Meta Moon, Blue Raspberry, Lemon Lime, Tropical Punch, Orange and Grape – we tried all of them at the time.

But the pair recently launched a new edition called Glowberry.

SWEET DEAL

Cheapest place to buy chocolate coins this week – and it's not Poundland

The latest edition of Logan Paul and KSI's controversial energy drink is meant to taste like sour apples and berries – so we've put it to the test.

The standard retail price of a single 500ml bottle is meant to be just £1.99.

But while the price might be right, when we first tasted the drinks, we weren't overly impressed.

One tasted like soapy water and the others tasted like a synthetic mish-mash of flavours.

So I didn't have high hopes for the Glowberry alternative – but here goes.

As soon as you open the bottle of the new drink, you're hit with its scent.

To me, it smells just like a fruity bubble bath – not something you're meant to drink.

But actually, when the first splashes of the pale white liquid hit your tastebuds you're hit by an overwhelming sweetness.

And well, the taste is reminiscent of its description – sour apple.

It actually tastes just like the Chewits sour apple sweets.

But this apple flavour could be overpowering for some and I couldn't taste any of the berry flavour that is hinted on the packaging.

It's not awful but it's by no means an adult drink – it's far too sweet and flat for my taste buds.

Although it does make you understand why the kids run for it.

Where can I buy Glowberry Prime?

The new flavour was expected to fly off the shelves of at Aldi's shops across the UK earlier this month, with a cheaper £1.99 price tag.

Only one bottle per Prime obsessed fan was to be sold, due to its popularity – with rumours of people camping outside to make sure they got one.

But customers were left disappointed after the budget chain delayed the launch.

The release was delayed due to stock issues, with the supermarket having to apologise to customers.

However, Aldi confirmed that the drink officially hit the shelves on Tuesday, October 17.

But it's not just Aldi that has stocked the latest Prime energy drink, shoppers have found Glowberry Prime in Sports Direct for £3.

How did Prime get so popular?

During a live stream, the pair said they wanted to "rival the biggest companies on earth" with their products – including "Pepsi, Coke, Gatorade and Powerade".

The drink was then promoted around a string of high-profile celebrity boxing matches.

KSI, whose real name is Olajide Olatunji, is one of the UK's most famous YouTube creators.

He has also dabbled in celebrity boxing and music.

Logan Paul is an American internet celebrity who found fame, along with his brother Jake, through often controversial online videos.
