Hollyoaks shock as John Paul arrested after he attacks resident
John Paul McQueen (James Sutton) was left contemplating the events of the day in question in Hollyoaks on Wednesday (September 20) after he ended up in police custody.
The former deputy head teacher, as viewers know, has struggled in the wake of the homophobic attack, which took place a number of months ago.
Carter Shepherd (David Ames), who is Freya Calder’s (Ellie Henry) father, has proven incredibly supportive in the aftermath, befriending John Paul and offering him help in whatever way he can.
But it sees that Carter is harbouring a secret, with ulterior motives in coming to John Paul’s rescue, warning off a young man named Billy, who took an interest in JP.
Witnessing the altercation at The Loft, John Paul was keen to know why Billy was being quizzed by Carter, who used the former teacher’s traumas to make him believe that Billy was the aggressor of the situation.
A pretty low move from the newcomer.
John Paul was grateful to Carter for intervening, unaware of what his new ‘friend’ is up to, but things took another turn later in the episode, which was penned by Scott Drinkwell star Ross Adams, as JP started to have flashbacks to the night of the attack while out at The Dog.
Desperate for air, he headed outside, struggling to catch his breath.

Carter approached from behind to check in on him but, with his anxieties about the attack still very much playing on his mind, JP believed he was being attacked again and therefore lashed out, striking the new headmaster.
John Paul was apologetic in the aftermath of the incident while Carter was rushed to hospital.
Zoe Anderson (Garcia Brown), however, witnessed the attack and proceeded to arrest John Paul, who was left alone and isolated in a police cell as the episode concluded.
Will Carter press charges?
Will we find out what he’s really up to? And will JP return home to his loved ones or is it a life behind bars that he’s facing?
Hollyoaks continues Thursday September 21 at 7pm on E4 or stream the next episode from midnight.
