Escape to the Chateau's Dick and Angel stun fans as they finally drop first look at new show after shock Channel 4 axe | The Sun

ESCAPE to the Chateau fans have been left stunned as stars Dick and Angel Strawbridge share a first look at their drastically different new show following the end of their beloved Channel 4 series.

Dick and Angel fronted the Channel 4 reality renovation for nine seasons. It began airing in 2016 but ended suddenly last year after it was reportedly axed by the broadcaster.

Now, the Escape to the Chateau stars are launching a new project which is pretty different from the TV show.

Dick and Angel’s CHAT-EAU is an upcoming podcast series that will see the couple chat about their famous home and their life in France.

Teasing the show in an Instagram video, Dick said: “It’s about our life. How ridiculous and how silly it is to buy a Chateau.”

Angel interjected: “We have been filming for the last ten years and I can’t wait to get in and talk about all the funny memories that also didn’t make the show. We have got a lot to say!”

The couple are partnering with Global to share their new show with the world. And they are, of course, recording it at home.

Revealing more about the show in their newsletter, the couple said: “Picture this. Dick and I sneak up to the apex of our house, we pour a cup of tea or a gin depending on the time of day and have a cosy chat.

“We talk about the week, the children, and the things that have made us smile. We take a trip down memory lane and re-live moments from our past. It’s intimate, warm and a very special hour for us … we have even joked that it feels like a date!”

They added: “We are over the moon to be launching our new podcast with Global. The incredible team and our wonderful producer Joe are a joy to work with and we’re having lots of fun.”

The first episode of the podcast dropped today and new chats will drop each week.

Dick and Angel’s CHAT-EAU marks the couple’s first media project following the end of the Channel 4 show last year. At the time, the shock cancellation of the show came amid rumours that the pair had a big falling out with the broadcaster.

However, Dick and Angel have since insisted it was something they actually decided a long time ago.

“We made a decision that last year was going to be the finale and we told everybody. So, when the stories came out and everybody started talking about the show ending, it wasn’t news. It was something that had happened a long time ago in the past,” Dick explained during an appearance on Lorraine.

“Our Queen said, never complain and never explain. And that was the best way because we had already made that decision as a family to bring the show to an end,” Angel added.

The ending of Escape to the Chateau certainly came to a shock to fans, but many have expressed their excitement at Dick and Angel’s new venture.

Taking to social media, one fan exclaimed: “I’ve loved your shows and watched them all several times. Can’t wait to listen and laugh along with you guys!”

“I will definitely be listening to this,” another commented.

A third fan said: “I’m subscribed! I’m very excited to listen to your stories. Miss the tv show. This is the next best thing!”

A fourth agreed: “Cannot wait! I’ve watched your show more times than I can say.”
