Charles turns violent over murderer and Tom gets creepier in Emmerdale
Tom King (James Chase) found himself in a violent altercation with Charles Anderson (Kevin Mathurin) in Thursday’s (September 28) episode of Emmerdale.
Ever since Tom’s return, the focus has largely been on him building a relationship with Belle (Eden Taylor-Draper).
It’s all quite puzzling given that Tom is happy to be with Belle at one point and then questioning their relationship the next. At first, we worried the storyline was going round in circles, but tonight’s episode has hinted at things finally developing.
Tom and Belle have been living at Rishi’s (Bhasker Patel) house for a while and often talk about moving out. During a chat, Tom revealed that insurance money from his stolen car will leave him with enough to buy another vehicle, and a house deposit.

This bothered Belle, given that she hadn’t actually made up her mind about moving in with her partner.
Thinking about Belle’s emotions seemingly wasn’t on Tom’s mind, as Suni (Brahmdeo Shannon Ramana) confirmed he had already organised a viewing at Dan Spencer’s (Liam Fox) old house.
Tom was excited when he arrived at the location but the prospect of living with her boyfriend forever just made Belle anxious. She rushed out and later confirmed to Tom that she didn’t want to move out of the Dingle household because she’d worry about her dad.
Tom made out that he was fine with Belle’s decision, but given Eden Taylor-Draper’s recent comments about her upcoming storyline, it appears the kinder side to Tom’s personality might end up being a façade.
‘It’s hard because he’s a lovely guy and she’s in love with him, but who knows?’, she told us.
‘Who knows how much of a good guy he is?’.
As Belle spent the evening working, Tom was at the pub. He approached Charles and offered his condolences following Victor’s (Eddie Osei) death – which was his first mistake.
We know that Charles is hiding the fact he framed Victor for a theft shortly before his death. Claudette (Flo Wilson) believes that Victor died a guilty man and the secret has been eating away at Charles ever since.
Tom tried to get on the same page as Charles by telling him their Dad’s share similarities. His second mistake made, Tom dug himself a hole as he tried to say Victor was the same as Carl King, who tried to rape Chas (Lucy Pargeter) and also killed his and Jimmy’s (Nick Miles) father.
As Jai (Chris Bisson) stepped in, Charles made a comment about Laurel’s (Charlotte Bellamy) alcoholism.

Third mistake incoming, Tom then took it upon himself to stand up for Laurel, which prompted Charles to grab him and smack his head onto the pub bar.
With Charles continuing to spiral, Manpreet (Rebecca Sarker) urged him to fix things, but the struggling vicar said he doesn’t think he can.
‘I think it would definitely be controversial’, Kevin Mathurin told us, discussing how the villagers would react if the truth about Charles framing Victor is revealed.
‘Some people will definitely have something to say about it and will question Charles’s position. I think that’s a thing he’s really thinking about but first and foremost, he’s not concerned about his position in the village, he’s more concerned about whether he’s going to be honest to his mum.
‘He wants to be honest and admit what he’s done, but she’s so leaning on his support, Charles doesn’t want to crush her, it’s hard.’
