BBC Strictly fans spot Neil Jones unimpressed after brutal Angel Rippon moment

Strictly Come Dancing fans noticed Neil Jones looked unimpressed on Saturday night after hearing the judges' scores for presenter Angela Rippon and her dance partner Kai Widdrington.

The couple performed a Waltz to Fascination by Nat King Cole but left the judges split with their scores.

Craig Revel Horwood gave seven points, Motsi Mabuse gave eight and Anton Du Beke gave another seven but head judge Shirley Ballas only gave the couple six points, making their total a relatively low 28 out of 40.

Fans were surprised by the low scores and it seems Neil was equally shocked as he was spotted pulling a face of horror as the low points were awarded.

Strictly fans took to social media to express their amusement at his reaction as one fan said his response was "the face of the series."

Another viewer commented: "Neil being outraged over Angela and Kai's scores" with lots of crying laughing faces. And a third said: "Loved Neil's reactions to Angela and Kai's scores" alongside a crying-with-laughter emoji.

Anton, a judge on Strictly Come Dancing, gave his feedback to the dance duo, saying: "It was beautiful and elegant, as we come to expect from you. It was a little abrupt because the side steps weren't quite large enough.

"It was elegant, it was lovely. I could have done with a bit more flow, but as I say that's because the sidestep wasn't quite wide enough, but other than just a lovely dance."

Motsi also shared her thoughts, remarking: "That was a very classical waltz. I love it when we dance a complete dance the way you exceed the competition.

"And you look beautiful in his arm. You look like it's so easy to dance with him and whatever happens, it always looks like it's not too much for you, it's always at ease."

She continued: "I feel today, could we have pushed it a little bit more? Could we have given it a little bit more so we don't play it safe? We are in the middle of the competition and we're searching for our finalists, so if there is any more to give, please give."

Shirley had some criticism for the dance, saying it needed to "draw in a little bit", while Craig commented: "I thought your footwork was a little bit wobbly my darling and the frame just became a little bit loose."

However, he did also add: "You know what? You always bring to the dance floor style and elegance."

Angela and Kai were not the lowest scoring couple of the night – as Angela Scanlon and Carlos Gu, and Adam Thomas and Luba Mushtuk both scored a total of 27 points each.

However, Angela and Kai did end up in the dreaded dance-off. Fortunately, the pair were saved and Adam and Luba were sent home.
