The divorce battle between Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas has taken a dramatic turn following the Game of Thrones actress suing her ex in an attempt to get their daughters back with her in the UK.

In a new filing in a New York court, the 27-year-old star claimed her husband has kept their daughters via “wrongful retention” in the US, and refused to surrender their passports.

She also claimed they had agreed over Christmas 2022 that they would make their “forever home” in England, but Jonas is now neglecting to fulfil on the promise to let his children live there.

She also shockingly claimed contrary to what was believed, she had no idea that he was going to file for divorce, and actually learned about it in the press–and everything fell apart for them after Jonas’ 34th birthday on August 15.

In the documents, it states: “Thereafter, the breakdown of the parties’ marriage happened very suddenly. The parties had an argument on August 15, 2023. On or about September 1, 2023, the Father filed a divorce case against the Mother in Florida. On or about September 5, 2023, the Mother found out through the media that the Father had filed for divorce.”

It is unclear what the argument was about, though the claim paints a very different picture about what may have led to the couple’s marriage crumbling.

Shortly after news broke of the divorce filing, reports surfaced which claimed Turner wanted to live a party lifestyle, while Jonas was more of a homebody–and she had allegedly been caught saying or doing something on doorbell camera footage that ultimately led Jonas to file.

Fans rallied around the actress, taking note she had posted a photo of herself and her husband on her Instagram on August 14, as well as the fact that in previous interviews, both she and Jonas had indicated she was the one who was a homebody.

After Turner’s recent filing, Jonas wasted no time hitting back with a claim of his own, stating the divorce was not a shock, and he could not relocate their daughters to England because it would violate a court order from the state of Florida, where he filed for divorce.

“After multiple conversations with Sophie, Joe initiated divorce proceedings in Florida, as Florida is the appropriate jurisdiction for the case,” his rep said in a statement. “Sophie was aware that Joe was going to file for divorce.”

“The Florida Court has already entered an order that restricts both parents from relocating the children,” the statement continued.

“Sophie was served with this order on September 6, 2023, more than two weeks ago.”
