Strictly pro breaks silence amid rumours celeb threatened to quit before live show
Strictly Come Dancing pro, Giovanni Pernice, has broken his silence amid claims that he and his dancing partner, actress Amanda Abbington have not been seeing eye to eye. It had been reported that the Sherlock star threatened to quit before the first live show of the new series.
However, Giovanni seemed keen to address this, and took to social media to set the record straight. The dancer lifted a still image from Amanda's Instagram stories and shared it to his own, which shows her smiling during a training session.
He wrote alongside the image: "I usually don't say those things early (as probably everybody knows) but I am extremely proud of you and I can't wait for people to watch what we have created."
Amanda's post also offered scope that there was no hard feelings between the two.
Beside the picture, she said: "The smile you give your pro partner at the end of the camera rehearsal when you know you are in safe and hugely talented hands."
The Sun had reported that Amanda was not happy with Giovanni's "militant" attitude during training sessions.
A source also told the outlet that the pro dancer takes his job "very seriously," and has an "incredibly brusque" manner, something Amanda allegedly found "difficult to handle."
Furthermore, they claimed Amanda was "shaken" by the experience and found it "more stressful than she ever imagined."
They also added she had "liaised with her team about quitting."
Amanda's representatives have since denied the claims. OK! has contacted Amanda's representatives for further comment.
Elsewhere, Amanda shared a video to her Instagram grid to update fans on her week so far in terms of her Strictly schedule. The screen star seemed in good spirits and had only positive things to say about the show and Giovanni.
During the footage, the 49 year old revealed they "make each other laugh" during rehearsals. She also told fans they did their dance "for the first time in front of the cameras," which she branded as "amazing."
Amanda then went on to call Giovanni an "incredible choreographer" who has "created something really beautiful so we’re both very pleased."
The star rounded off the positive video by telling fans that "it's going to be a wonderful night tomorrow night."
"I hope you all tune in and watch it, it's a big old rollercoaster, so strap in," the actor added.
