Neighbours heartthrob unrecognisable 28 years after show exit
Neighbours teaser trailer
Dan Falzon looks worlds away from his Neighbours character 28 years after he made an exit from the Australian soap.
The actor’s image adorned the walls of millions of teenage girls in the early nineties as he achieved heartthrob status with his role as Rick Alessi.
However, nearly 30 years after his departure, the 50-year-old’s life couldn’t be more different from the photo shoots and awards ceremonies.
These days he is married with one daughter and is the managing director of operations at Earth Sanctuary, an eco-tourism and astronomy business.
The company, which is located near Alice Springs, was founded in 1999, four years after he quit his role in the hit TV show and aims to promote positive solutions in sustainable living in the face of a worsening climate crisis.

His two brothers, Ben and Tom, as well as his father, Joe, are also members of the team.
Although he has a fancy title, Dan is no pen pusher and regularly gives tours to visitors as a Senior Adventure Guide.
“We have built the business up to offer award–winning day and evening tours to visitors to the central Australian outback,” the brothers told the media.
“Our vision is to be Australia’s leading provider of 100% carbon–neutral education, tours, and events.”
The environment is a subject close to his heart and in 2008 he had a short career as an environmental Youtuber.
During his time on Neighbours, his portrayal of the rebellious teenager earned him praise from viewers and critics, alongside a nomination for Most Popular Actor at the inaugural National Television Awards.

He left the show in 1995 after three years and said at the time: “I had a phenomenal run on the show and leaving was a big decision to make but there comes a time when you know that it’s finally right.”
Neighbours recently returned to screens on Amazon Freevee after being cancelled last year. The new incarnation of the soap has seen lots of familiar faces returning although it is unlikely Dan will pop up anytime soon as he turned his back on acting after he left the show.
Before his current role he trained in healthcare, qualifying as a paramedic with St. John’s Ambulance and appear 2014 Channel 9 docuseries Outback Paramedic.
He also started an alternative rock band called Milk in 1997 with his brother, only to quit after releasing just one single.
New episodes of Neighbours drop daily on Amazon Freevee Monday to Thursday.
