Hollyoaks airs another huge exit after shock set-up

Sam Chen-Williams (Matthew McGivern) has waved goodbye to Hollyoaks after his entire family refused to believe that he’d been set up over pictures of Zoe Anderson (Garcia Brown) found in his car.

The former policeman, as viewers know, was previously obsessed with Zoe, who he’d been in a relationship with, exhibiting some disturbing behaviour when their romance came to an end.

From gaining entry to her flat without her permission to refusing to accept her decision to have a termination, his obsession left Zoe seriously concerned.

Sam eventually acknowledged that he was at fault, apologising profusely over what he did and later accompanied Zoe to her termination appointment in a bid to make amends.

He and Zoe have been on relatively good terms since. Rayne Royce (Jemma Donovan), however, scuppered his reputation when she stole his phone and sent stalker-level text messages to Zoe from the device in a bid to destroy the Chen-Williams’ picture perfect family.

Her reasons were due to Lizzie (Lily Best) being picked by Faye Fuller (Madelyn Smedley) for a social media promotion over her, and therefore Rayne made it her mission to ruin Lizzie and her clan.

Sam professed his innocence over the situation, with Lizzie eventually believing him, but things took a shocking turn when pictures of Zoe were found in the former policeman’s car, in what appeared to be a creepy shrine to his ex.

Again, Sam reiterated that this was nothing to do with him, desperate to convince those around him that he’d been set up. But despite his best efforts, no-one took his word for it, with Dave (Dominic Power) and Lizzie refusing to believe him.

Mason (Frank Kauer), however, did support him, which Sam appreciated, but with his reputation in tatters and little support from his loved ones he decided to up sticks and leave the village.

Subsequent scenes confirmed that it wasn’t actually Rayne who set him up the second time. It was Hunter McQueen (Theo Graham), who took shocking action to get Sam out of the village and away from Zoe.

But have we seen the last of Sam? Will Hunter right his wrong? And will Sam be back if so?
