Ex Strictly star fumes over Shirley Ballas awarding first 10 of the series
Saturday night's Strictly Come Dancing saw Shirley Ballas give the first ten of the series, following comedian Eddie Kadi's turn on the dance floor.
Eddie and dance partner Karen Hauer took to the floor with the series's first Couple’s Choice as they performed a unique dance to Men in Black, the theme song to the hit sci-fi comedy of the same name.
Following the dance, Head Judge Shirley told the pair: "This was slick, this had style, it was entertaining. I absolutely loved it" before awarding them the first ten of the year.
However, since the show aired, former Strictly pro James Jordan has voiced his disagreement with Shirley's rather high-scoring.
Speaking on Hello Magazine's Strictly The Truth podcast and YouTube series, James fumed: "That tens gone now, you can't bring that back. That's the first ten of the series, for that dance?
"Did she pick up the wrong paddle? We need to ask her. I think maybe she picked up the wrong paddle", he joked, before adding that some of the pros seemed confused at the scoring.
James continued: "I would have liked [to see] all of the pros faces at that moment."
James then shared the clip to his Instagram page, where commentators were quick to voice their agreement, as one wrote: "Definitely not worth a 10. He was off time and slightly behind"
"I totally agree, it definitely wasn't a 10. He wasn't in sync enough for it to be a 10. Don't know what she was watching but it wasn't what everyone else saw" added another.
And a third penned: "Agree. That dance was not a 10. It was very good, but it wasn’t perfect. Even as a complete layman, I could see that some of the side-by-side moments weren’t fully in sync."
James had previously hit out at the show, warning celebrities who want to give the show a go that they won't stand a chance if they are not already trained dancers.
Discussing how a number of this year's celebs have some form of dance training, including actor Layton Williams, who has starred in the West End and worked as a dancer, and TV presenter Angela Scanlon who used to perform with the O'Shea Irish Dance Company.
Discussing Layton in particular, James said: "He is a fully trained, professional dancer. When they came out, you had essentially two professional dancers next to each other.
"Let's not say, 'oh it's because (Layton's) really talented and has worked really hard'. Because that kind of belittles our dancing world that someone can come out and be that good after a week's training. You can't."
