Vivienne Westwood SS24 Dives Into Shakespearean England
For Vivienne Westwood, the label has always found itself at the intersection of unparalleled elegant and couture-facing fanciful designs. Even with Westwood’s passing in December of 2022, the house is committed to carrying her legacy of elegance that looks to England’s culture/history. So with the brand’s latest offering for the Spring/Summer 2024 season, the Vivienne Westwood design team dives into Shakespearean England.
By looking at the period, the house’s new collection offers a contemporary vision of past-informed styles. As dressing during Shakespearean England moved between gendered notes, the British label echoes this sentiment in wearable street fashion. Denim coordinating sets and cotton suiting are tossed in floral fabrications and enhanced by sharp design details. A highlight of said precision is Westwood’s signature corset style, which appears in polka dot dresses, art-inspired tops, a multicolored knit top and traditional VW corsets. But a highlight of the corset stylings is an asymmetrical gray plaid blazer paired with a black corset.
Elsewhere in the collection, elevated looks take via wrap overcoats, striped blazers, cropped jackets, striped button-down shirts, printed shorts, skirts and more. Regardless of the garment style, the entire collection comes to life through a blend of eye-catching prints, designs and textures.
