Telfar Is Giving Away Free Shopping Bags in New "Gifted" Program
After hosting its last-ever Bag Security Program in June, Telfar has announced an all-new shopping concept, titled “Gifted.”
Here’s the premise: Telfar is stocking up on all of its bags, including its Shopping Bags, duffles, circles and collaborations, in every size and every color; and upon purchasing one item, you’ll be able to gift a bag to “someone you love” for free. The brand asks that you submit a video about who you want to gift and why, “so we know you are not scamming.”
Those interested in participating will need to submit a video that’s between 20 seconds and one-minute long. (It must have audio; it cannot be a slideshow, and it must not be offensive, per the official guidelines.) The video will need to be submitted at 12 p.m. ET on November 13, and entries submitted after 3 p.m. ET will not be eligible.
From there, customers will be prompted to purchase any bag on November 17, using the same email and phone number from their submitted video. Within 48 hours, Telfar will send customers a code for a gifted Shopping Bag. Each customer will be given one code, regardless of how many bags they purchase, and the code will only be valid for Telfar’s Shopping Bags.

Fans of the brand can learn more about the program on Telfar’s website, where the brand has added some fine print about the project: “It’s the people who make our ‘marketing’. It’s the people who made this phenomenon of call and response,” Telfar writes. “And it’s the people that are our only investors. And that’s why we don’t need to sell the people — or ourselves — to anyone else.”
“If it turns into that: a bag in exchange for some money — then we are just another thing on the market. That is not freedom,” the brand adds. “That’s how the idea of gifted came to us. This is the first of many gifts to come.”
