On Sept 26, Scandal‘s Kerry Washington officially joined a long list of celebrities who have opened their lives, and their hearts, in a celebrity memoir. And though some moments in Washington’s memoir, Thicker Than Water, we saw coming and anxiously awaited, like a behind-the-scenes inside her hit ABC drama or a glimpse into her ultra-private relationship with her husband Nnamdi Asomugha, most of the book will have fans and non-fans alike shocked and heartbroken from her bombshell confessions.

Without giving too much away, the book is filled with bombshell confessions. Among the never-before-shared information is Washington’s experience with an eating disorder as a college student, her reaction to finding out her father isn’t her biological father, and her experience getting an abortion in her late 20s.
