Junya Watanabe and Levi’s Collaborate on an Understated Long Coat
Junya Watanabe, known for his avant-garde style; in particular, his exploration of new cutting concepts, material sourcing methods and innovative draping techniques, has revealed his latest work, a collaboration with Levi’s.
This latest collaboration follows a busy month for the designer, who with his label MAN, has seen collaborations with names like New Balance on a set of 650s, Palace for a Cordura nylon jacket and Oakley for a sandal release, just to name a few.
Like the collaborations above, the work with Levi’s explores a monochromatic theme, displayed through a “Long Contrast Coat,” which is made up of 100 percent wool and cotton. Designed under Watanabe’s MAN line, the coat is presented in a dark black with white contrast stitching.
The white contrast stitching playfully explores the lines of the coat and also nods to Levi’s iconic denim, with Watanabe outlining what feels like a button-up combined with the start of a pair of jeans — complete with lines that would indicate front and back pockets.
Additional details include a front flap chest pocket with button fastening, brass rivets with faux leather accents, center front button fastening, buttoned cuffs and a cinch-fastened back detail.
eYe Junya Watanabe MAN x Levi’s “Long Contrast Coat Black” is available to purchase now via Dover Street Market‘s official site, for a price of $1,376 USD.
