Fearne Cotton reacts to Russell Brand sexual assault allegations
Fearne Cotton appears to have unfollowed Russell Brand on social media after he was accused of sexual assault, rape, and emotional abuse by several women.
As well as appearing on each other’s podcasts over the years, Fearne, 42, and Brand, 48, have a personal connection as his wife – and mother of his two children – is the Happy Place podcaster’s good friend, Laura Gallacher.
Fearne previously dubbed Laura her ‘best mate’ and an ‘amazing, amazing human being’ in an interview with The Mirror.
Brand was a guest speaker on Fearne’s Happy Place wellness festival back in 2019, and he also appeared on an episode of her podcast of the same name, which is now nowhere to be found.
As well as seemingly deleting the podcast episode, Fearne appears to have unfollowed Brand on Instagram.
On Saturday the allegations were made public through a joint investigation by Channel 4’s Dispatches, The Times and The Sunday Times. That afternoon, Fearne still followed the comic.
Fearne previously appeared on Brand’s Under The Skin podcast back in 2020, on which she discussed fame and mental health.
When Brand’s dog died last year, Fearne was one of his celebrity friends to comment, as per Birmingham Mail, as she wrote: ‘Sending you all the love. She was so special.’
This comes as other celebrities have spoken out in light of the allegations, one involving a woman who claimed to be 16 when she was allegedly assaulted by Brand, who she said was in his thirties at the time.
Controversial TV presenter Piers Morgan said he was ‘shocked’ at the allegations against Brand, who he said he was texting just ‘weeks’ ago.

In light of the allegations, presenter Vanessa Feltz reminisced about a time Brand asked her – on national TV – whether he could ‘have it off with either you or your daughters?’
Brand staunchly denied all allegations made against him in a pre-emptive video on his YouTube channel just before the joint investigation was published.
This morning, YouTube suspended the Get Him To The Greek star from monetising his video content for ‘violating Creator Responsibility policy’ after the ‘serious allegations.’
His remaining tour dates have also been postponed.
Brand and Laura married in 2017 in Henley-on-Thames and share two daughters – Mabel and Peggy – and are expecting a third.
He was previously married to singer Katy Perry.
