Bray Wyatt 'wasn't wearing heart defibrillator when fiancee found his body'
Bray Wyatt was reportedly not wearing his doctor-recommended heart defibrillator at the time of his tragic death.
The WWE icon, whose real name was Windham Rotunda, died ‘unexpectedly’ on Thursday aged 36 after suffering from heart complications in the weeks before his death.
According to a police report obtained by TMZ, on the day he died Wyatt told his fiancée JoJo Offerman that he was going to have a nap.
It’s said she later heard his alarm going off without him waking and when she went to check on him, she found him lying in bed not breathing, with her mother giving him CPR as JoJo called 911.
A source told People that he died in his sleep, having seen a doctor earlier on Thursday due to an ongoing heart condition.
He was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
TMZ reports that Wyatt had developed heart complications which led to him having a ‘weak lower part of his heart’ following a battle with Covid earlier this year.
It’s said he was hospitalised with a heart issue a week before his death, and doctors had recommended he wear an external defibrillator after a follow-up appointment.
According to TMZ, Wyatt was not wearing the defibrillator at the time of his death and it was found in his car on the driveway.
However it’s not clear if it would have saved his life.
Wyatt had not been seen on screen since February 2023 with reports he had been battling an unspecified illness.
His death was revealed on Thursday by WWE boss Triple H, who announced he had ‘unexpectedly passed’
He wrote on X (formerly Twitter): ‘Just received a call from WWE Hall of Famer Mike Rotunda who informed us of the tragic news that our WWE family member for life Windham Rotunda – also known as Bray Wyatt – unexpectedly passed earlier today.
‘Our thoughts are with his family and we ask that everyone respect their privacy at this time.’
Wyatt is survived by two daughters from his relationship with ex-wife Samantha, who he was married to from 2012 to 2017. He became engaged to WWE announcer Jojo Offerman last year – they shared a daughter and a son.
