Meghan Markles wedding dress designer reveals secret of where something blue was hidden
Meghan Markle's wedding dress designer has opened up and shared special details about the stunning gown she wore for her wedding to Prince Harry in May 2018, at St George's Chapel at Windsor Castle.
Claire Waight Keller, the designer of the iconic Givenchy wedding dress, has revealed where Meghan’s “something blue” was cleverly hidden.
Claire, the first female artistic director of Givenchy, spilled the tea in an interview with Vanity Fair.
Describing the “something blue” as the “perfect personal memento”, Claire revealed: “We basically sewed it into the hem of the wedding dress, so she was the only one that knew that it was there. It was a little blue gingham check.
“It was the perfect personal memento that was secretly hidden inside the dress”.
Meghan had previously spoken about the wedding dress in HBO's Queen of the World documentary where she explained a piece of blue fabric was stitched inside. While admiring the dress for the first time since she wore it at her wedding, Meghan revealed that the blue fabric was from the dress she wore on her first date with Prince Harry.
Claire also spoke in the interview on how King Charles appreciated the dress as Meghan’s long veil was embroidered with flowers to represent each of the 53 countries in the Commonwealth.
The designed said: “[Meghan] felt like she was bringing an element of each of those countries down the aisle with her. So that her new role, and that bridge to the new role, was captured in what she was wearing.”
Meghan walked down the aisle with King Charles by her side after her father Thomas Markle pulled out of attending the ceremony.
The revelations on Meghan’s wedding dress come as the royal is reportedly set to hop back onto socials and relaunch her own Instagram page.
Meghan hasn’t had her own Instagram account since 2018, and stepped away from her joint Instagram account with Prince Harry in 2020 when they stepped back from their official royal duties.
Now it appears that the mum-of-two is ready to step back into the world of social media as her team has confirmed that she will be making a return with the handle @meghan, which already boasts 76,000 followers.
The account doesn’t include a picture of Meghan, but rather her favourite flowers – pink peonies. The page also doesn’t include any official posts as of yet.
A source confirmed to The Mail on Sunday that the Instagram account is Meghan's and that she will be making her return “very soon” and fans should keep an eye out for her first post.
