Big Brothers AJ Odudu explains why she wont take one of TVs top jobs

After host Hilly Willougby quit, This Morning has become one of the hottest vacancies on television, but Big Brother’s AJ Odudu says she won’t be one of the candidates to take over the role.

The former Strictly Come Dancing finalist has revealed she doesn’t fancy the early starts that Holly left last week, reports The Mirror. AJ said: “I don’t do mornings. They have to be there at, like, 8am. I’m a night owl.”

This Morning starts on ITV at 10am, while Big Brother’s evictions start at 9pm with the Late and Live spin-off show taking place at 10pm. AJ says her mum has had to stay up to watch – and has even told her off for running around the studio in tiny heels.

he said on Tuesday: “My mum said, ‘Why can’t you just walk instead of all this?’”

AJ who co-hosts the series with pal Will Best, had a night off on Tuesday for the Glamour Women of the Year in partnership with Samsung. The star had a bodyguard for her £1million worth of diamonds for the awards.

She can be usually seen seemingly defying physics as she races across the shiny studio floor with a microphone to chat to audience members. And her mum’s concern may not be entirely misplaced, as a foot injury prevented AJ from winning the glitterball trophy in 2019.

Meanwhile, in a recent interview, AJ addressed how the world has changed since Big Brother first aired in 2000. She told Rolling Stone: “I think it’s actually got a much more important place than it ever has before.

“It does feel like society was a lot more innocent and naïve then. People are yearning for diversity more than ever, not just on screen, but they want to see themselves reflected back.

I think it’s got a really important place, and that’s the special thing about Big Brother – you don’t have to have any sort of singing talent or be able to cook or be single or be young and hot, or looking for love.

“All you need to do is be interested and interesting. We all get to learn from the people we get to know over those months and weeks.”

Big Brother airs Sundays to Fridays on ITV.
