SAM Thompson's mum broke down in tears on live radio today talking about his time in the I'm A Celebrity jungle.<\/p>\n

Karen Thompson became overwhelmed as Hits Radio Breakfast Show host Fleur East played a personal message from Sam, filmed before he left for Australia.<\/p>\n

\n<\/p>\n

In typically exuberant style, Sam said: "Hello mum, you can't reply because I'm not actually here I'm in the jungle but I just wanted to say that I miss you and I hope you're proud of me.\u00a0<\/p>\n

"As you know very well I've wanted to do this show for a very long time and I'm in there, we're living the dream, or I've been booted out but I still managed to do it for a little bit of time."<\/p>\n

A tearful Karen exclaimed: "Oh my God. I'm going to cry. You shouldn't have shown me that, it's really horrible being a parent.\u00a0I hope people do like him. Not everyone likes everyone, but we are all so unbelievably proud. From my father, who I don't think has ever watched the show before, and my mother says 'Oh my goodness your father goes round everywhere telling everybody'."\u00a0<\/p>\n

Earlier in the show, Karen admitted she wasn't enjoying watching the programme.<\/p>\n

She confessed: "It\u2019s nerve-wracking as it\u2019s my little boy, my child! I dread it every evening, but he is just being himself and he seems to be happy, and he looks well and that\u2019s the main thing."<\/p>\n

Made In Chelsea<\/span> star Sam, who has ADHD, has endeared himself to the nation with his constant positivity and charming quirks.<\/p>\n

One of which is a habit of collecting and carrying all manner of sticks, something he has done his whole life.<\/p>\n

Karen said: "He\u2019s managed to pick up loads of sticks and branches to wander around with, and I don\u2019t know whether he does it at work, but he\u2019s never been without something sword or lightsabre like in his hand to wander around with. <\/p>\n

"So, the jungle is a great place for him because they\u2019re everywhere – he can literally go around picking up swords and lightsabres!"<\/p>\n

Asked what has been her favourite moment of the series so far, Karen said:\u00a0\u2018<\/em>"His discussion with Marvin and Josie when they were just having a quiet conversation about each other, and about\u00a0 ADHD, was really, really sweet and nice<\/span> because they were just lovely and kind."\u00a0<\/p>\n

But there was a moment of panic when as she watched Sam slap ex-world champion boxer Tony Bellew in the face.<\/p>\n

Rather than it being an act of malice, Sam splattered a mosquito on the hardman's face.<\/p>\n

Karen needn't have worried because Tony saw the humour in the situation.<\/p>\n

She said: "Time froze for that split second, waiting to see what the reaction was going to be, and I have to say Tony was just brilliant.\u00a0Sam\u00a0did have the dead mozzy in his hand to show him it was genuine!"<\/p>\n
