Overall, we didn\u2019t feel they were worth the extra money.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Taste: 8\/10<\/li>\n<li>Value: 4\/10<\/li>\n<li>Total: 12\/20<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong>Tesco Mince Pies<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>\u00a31.25 for six<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/775577-sun-consumer-journalist-rosie-857904258.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p>Tesco\u2019s mince pies had a festive, spiced citrus peel taste but were just a little bit too sickly sweet.<\/p>\n<p>At 21p per pie, these were nearly half the price of the Mr Kipling variety \u2013 and almost as good. <\/p>\n<p>They also contained 49% mincemeat, more than the branded version.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Taste: 6\/10<\/li>\n<li>Value: 8\/10<\/li>\n<li>Total: 14\/20<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong>Asda Mince Pies<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>\u00a31.25 for six<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/775577-sun-consumer-journalist-rosie-857904227.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p>We didn\u2019t enjoy the Asda mince pies, which had a gluey, stodgy pastry. <\/p>\n<p>Although they contained 49% mincemeat, there didn\u2019t seem to be much fruit in the filling. It was gloopy and sticky.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Although as cheap as the Tesco and Lidl versions at 21p per pie, we didn\u2019t think they compared.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Taste: 5\/10<\/li>\n<li>Value: 7\/10<\/li>\n<li>Total: 12\/20<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong>WINNER<\/strong> &#8211; <strong>Morrisons Mince Pies<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>\u00a31.45 for six\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/775577-sun-consumer-journalist-rosie-857904209.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p>These Morrisons mince pies had a really Christmassy spiced taste, with plenty of fruit and citrus peel in the filling. <\/p>\n<p>The pasty was just right &#8211; not too dry or stodgy.<\/p>\n<p>Cheekily, Morrisons was the only supermarket not to declare the mincemeat content on the packaging. <\/p>\n<p>But at 24p per pie, they were still nearly 40% cheaper than the Mr Kipling version.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Taste: 8\/10<\/li>\n<li>Value: 7\/10<\/li>\n<li>Total: 15\/20<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong>Sainsbury\u2019s Mince Pies<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong> \u00a31.60 for six\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/775577-sun-consumer-journalist-rosie-857904138.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p>The Sainsbury\u2019s mince pies also had a great tasting filling, with lots of citrus and fruit.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It was a shame there wasn\u2019t more of it, as the 46% mincemeat content was the lowest declared by the supermarket brands.<\/p>\n<p>And although they were just as good as the Morrisons pies, they cost more at 27p each.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Taste: 8\/10<\/li>\n<li>Value: 5\/10<\/li>\n<li>Total: 13\/20<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong>Aldi Holly Lane Mince Pies<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>\u00a31.25 for six\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/775577-sun-consumer-journalist-rosie-857904144.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p>Aldi\u2019s mince pies were really disappointing, with a gloopy, thin filling that had a burnt aftertaste.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It was a shame as they contained the most mincemeat \u2013 making up 50% of the pie \u2013 but it was lacking fruit.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>They didn\u2019t live up to Tesco or Lidl\u2019s mince pies which were the same price, at 21p each.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Taste: 4\/10<\/li>\n<li>Value: 7\/10<\/li>\n<li>Total: 11\/20<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong>Lidl Favorina Mince Pies<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong> \u00a31.25 for 6\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/775577-sun-consumer-journalist-rosie-857904106.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p>Like Tesco and Asda, the Lidl mince pies contained 49% mincemeat. <\/p>\n<p>The filling tasted strongly of raisins and was nicely spiced but we couldn\u2019t taste any citrus.
