This formal promise to uphold the country\u2019s constitution is an important step forward in his journey as a king-in-waiting.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&#8216;It is a prerequisite that the Prince will be able to be appointed as the Governor in the event that both Her Majesty The Queen and His Royal Highness The Crown Prince are prevented from leading the government,&#8217; a social media post from the royal house explained.<\/p>\n<p>The portrait shows the family putting on a united front, coming amid stories that Christian&#8217;s father Crown Prince Frederik\u00a0enjoyed an evening out in the Spanish capital with\u00a0Mexican socialite Genoveva Casanova in October &#8211; without his wife of 19 years Princess Mary.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/15\/09\/77821727-12751543-image-a-5_1700041515016.jpg\" height=\"485\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>The portrait released by the Danish royals, which was shared via the family&#8217;s Instagram account, shows (pictured L-R) Prince Christian, Queen Margrethe, Crown Prince Frederik, and Princess Mary<\/p>\n<p>The portrait was shared on the Danish royal family&#8217;s official Instagram account.<\/p>\n<p>It was accompanied by a caption which said: &#8216;Following today&#8217;s State Council, when His Royal Highness Prince Christian signed the so-called solemn declaration of wanting to comply with the Constitution, the day was immortalised with portraits of the Prince together with Her Majesty The Queen, the Crown Prince and the Government.&#8217;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It\u00a0\u00a0follows the young royal celebrating his 18th birthday with a gala last month.<\/p>\n<p>To mark his coming of age, the palace also released a documentary about the royal, giving unprecedented access into Christian&#8217;s life as he moves towards his role of one day becoming monarch.<\/p>\n<p>Yesterday&#8217;s Council of State meeting, where Christian signed the declaration, saw the teenager accompanied by his father\u00a0Crown Prince\u00a0Frederik of Denmark.<\/p>\n<p>The 55-year-old\u00a0was all smiles\u00a0<span>while proudly guiding Prince Christian, 18, to his seat at the\u00a0The Council Chamber in\u00a0Christiansborg Palace in Copenhagen.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Footage of the occasion from TV2, shared by the Kongehuset Instagram account, also showed Queen Margrethe II&#8217;s eldest son pulling the chair out for his mother.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>His wife Princess Mary &#8211; who unlike her husband and son is not\u00a0a member of the Council of State &#8211; was not seen to be in attendance, but was later pictured in the car with the family, all seemingly in high spirits.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/15\/10\/77821731-12751543-According_to_the_Palace_which_also_shared_this_official_image_on-a-7_1700042479002.jpg\" height=\"444\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>According to the Palace, which also shared this official image on Instagram, &#8216;the day was immortalised with portraits of the Prince together with Her Majesty The Queen, the Crown Prince and the Government&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>A smiling Christian chatted with her in the backseat whereas Frederik could be seen in the front, next to the driver.
