After enjoying huge success with her band Girls Aloud, Cheryl became a judge on the X Factor and also enjoyed her own solo career.

Now, after becoming a mother to son Bear, she's pivoted into acting and also taken on some new projects. Cheryl shares Bear with her ex-partner and former One Direction crooner Liam Payne.

She's also faced some other tough times in recent years after losing her friend and bandmate Sarah Harding to cancer and being unlucky in love.

With Girls Aloud reportedly set for a huge comeback, we take a closer look at what the star is up to now, a few months after she made her West End debut in 2:22: A Ghost Story….

Cheryl's West End debut in 2:22: A Ghost Story had mixed reviews, with some singing her praises and others expressing their anger at her lack of experience. One person said: “Such a shame… A lot of talented trained actresses out there. And then you get her getting the part with no experience whatsoever.” Another added, “I want to see this play so bad but I don’t want to see it with the stunt casting”.

When she announced she had got the role, Cheryl wrote on Instagram: "Hey!!! .. I am SO excited to be starring in the west end thriller @222aghoststory!! I will be playing the role of Jenny from January – April! I went to see the show with a previous cast and LOVED IT !

"It is a totally new and exciting experience for me so if you’re looking for a fun night out & some entertainment in your new year tickets are available now….whenever you’re ready!!!"

Although Cheryl had a few small acting roles in the past in films such as What To Expect When You're Expecting, 2:22 was her first West End part.

Liam and Cheryl started dating back in 2016, and shocked fans when they went public with their romance as they first met when 14 year old Liam auditioned for The X Factor in 2008.

After weeks of speculation, the couple confirmed their relationship on Instagram before attending the the 69th Annual Cannes Film Festival in May 2016, which marked their red carpet debut as a couple.

Cheryl and Liam continued to share loved-up snaps online and appear at events together, and later that year rumours started to circulate that she was pregnant after she appeared to have a bump.

The couple kept her pregnancy private, but in March 2017 they announced the birth of their baby son on Instagram.

Cheryl and Liam called it quits after just over two years, eventually confirming their split in July 2018, with Liam claiming that the scrutiny they faced 'put so much pressure' on their relationship.

They now amicably co-parent Bear, with Liam previously telling how the situation is very "relaxed". Speaking to Glamour magazine, the singer said: "Cheryl is literally the best person to co-parent with. No stress involved.

"It's very, very relaxed, and we spend a lot of time on FaceTime."

The mother-of-one welcomed son Bear, six, with Liam in March 2017. She prefers to keep him out of the spotlight but has shared a sweet video of him talking and photos of him from behind as well as his hands and feet on her social media over the years.

To announce Bear's birth, the duo shared a polaroid picture of Liam holding him. Liam wrote: 'My close friends and family know there are very few times when I'm left speechless… wow!

'I'm incredibly happy to welcome our new baby boy into the world, it's a moment that I will never forget for the rest of my life and my favourite memory I have so far.

'I'm completely in awe of his incredible mother and how she has been the whole way through this, she's really made my dreams come true. We haven't named him yet but he's already capturing hearts including mine. I feel very blessed.

'Happy Mother's Day everyone!' Cheryl and Liam revealed that they had named him Bear because he made lots of growling noises which made the midwives say "how's the little bear?" while he was in hospital so the moniker stuck.

Liam and Cheryl have not shared pictures of his face and kept him out of the spotlight because they want him to have as normal a life as possible.

The group shot to fame in the 2000s, comprised of Cheryl, Kimberley Walsh, Nicola Roberts, Nadine Coyle and Sarah Harding.

They were formed in 2002 on the TV show Popstars: The Rivals. They had many hits like Sound Of The Underground, Jump and No Good Advice.

Although the band went on a break for a number of years, it's been reported that they have recorded a new song and video and are planning a reunion and tour in honour of their bandmate Sarah, who died of cancer in 2021.

The video is said to feature the stars dressed as superheroes, as a source told The Sun: "This has been one of the best kept secrets in pop, but it's actually happening now.

"The girls really came back together as friends to rally around when Sarah died, and it repaired some of the old rifts and put things into perspective. Suddenly the reunion which had seemed totally impossible for so long just felt a totally natural thing to do- in Sarah's honour.

The insider added: "It's going to be huge – and they're all very excited to be back working together, even if there is a bittersweet element to it. Of course, whatever they do, there will always be nods to Sarah's contribution to the group, too."
