Dawn French has hit out at Richard Osman over a strange coincidence between the pair\u2019s books.<\/p>\n
The French and Saunders comedian, 65, released her debut novel back in 2010, A Tiny Bit Marvellous, which follows the Battles family with each chapter told from the perspective of a different character.<\/p>\n
The book became a Number One New York Times bestseller, and Dawn believes went on to inspire the front cover of Pointless star Richard\u2019s work.<\/p>\n
Speaking to The Guardian about his own debut novel, The Thursday Murder Club, the TV presenter and comedian, 52, made comments about the iconic cover of the book being imitated.<\/p>\n
However, Dawn was quick to point out similarities between both of their debuts.<\/p>\n
Posting pictures of the covers side by side, Dawn wrote on X (formerly Twitter): \u2018*ahem\u2026 With MASSIVE respect to the v v clever @richardosman in #theguardian today\u2026 claiming his lovely cover is often imitated..Cover on left 2011. Cover on right 2020. You\u2019re welcome\u2026\u2019<\/p>\n
Directed by\u00a0Steven Spielberg,\u00a0Richard\u2019s debut novel is being transformed into a film adaptation, but he\u2019s been keeping the details under wraps.<\/p>\n
Fans have banded names around like\u00a0Meryl Streep, Helen Mirren,\u00a0Dame Judy Dench,\u00a0and Julie Walters for the cast, with Richard teasing who we could see hit the big screen.<\/p>\n
Speaking on The Graham Norton Show last year, he said: \u2018The scripts are done. I am not allowed to say any names of actors that are in the frame but everyone we are talking to has been a guest on this sofa.\u2019<\/p>\n
