HIGH street shops are disappearing left, right and centre and there's a whole host of stores closing in September.<\/p>\n
Iceland, Wetherspoons, Homebase and other top brands are pulling down the shutters on several of their shops next month.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Some stores will be\u00a0replaced with brand new shops\u00a0while others will leave the high street forever.<\/p>\n
Retailers\u00a0have been feeling the pinch since the pandemic while shoppers are cutting back on spending due to soaring\u00a0inflation.<\/p>\n
High energy costs and a shift to shopping online after the pandemic are also taking a toll and many high street shops have struggled to keep going.<\/p>\n
Here's a full list of some well-known retailers that will be shutting dozens of branches this September:<\/p>\n

Iceland\u00a0is popular among customers looking to shop for less, but you may want to check if your local is set to close for good.<\/p>\n
The supermarket\u00a0has announced it will be\u00a0shutting some stores this year with three closing next month.<\/p>\n
These are:<\/p>\n
<\/picture>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/picture>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/picture>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/picture>\n <\/span><\/p>\n Two stores also closed last month and in July:<\/p>\n Despite the closures, Iceland still runs around 500 branches and 153 Food Warehouse stores in the\u00a0UK.<\/p>\n Wetherspoons is also pulling the plug on some of its pubs.<\/p>\n The Six Chimneys in Wakefield will shut to punters on Monday, September 18 to undergo redevelopment.<\/p>\n The Moon on The Hill in Loughborough,\u00a0Leicestershire, is set to close before the end of the year, but an exact date is yet to be confirmed.<\/p>\n It comes after the chain \u2013 which has 827\u00a0pubs\u00a0across the UK \u2013 warned last September that\u00a032\u00a0pubs\u00a0were being put up for sale.<\/p>\n Shoezone will pull the shutters down on one of its stores in its\u00a0latest round of closures.<\/p>\n The Newport High street shop on the Isle of Wight will be closing, though there's no exact date yet. <\/p>\n The Edinburgh shop also shut in July and its Hinkcley and Beccles stores are set to close though Shoezone hasn't said when. <\/p>\n The high street chain has also closed multiple branches this year, including in\u00a0Northampton\u00a0and\u00a0Bristol.<\/p>\n Home and garden giant Homebase is also shutting some of its shops.<\/p>\n The DIY and garden specialist will shut its Newport store for good on Friday, September 8.<\/p>\n It's the sixth store to close in Wales since 2018 when three stores in\u00a0Cardiff\u00a0closed.<\/p>\n Homebase has closed 93 stores since it was taken over by Hilco Capital in 2018.<\/p>\n House of Fraser\u00a0confirmed to The Sun that its branch in Guildford will shut on Saturday, September 30.<\/p>\n Its store in Solihull closed on Monday, August 28.<\/p>\n In February, the chain turned its store in\u00a0Birmingham\u00a0into an outlet and closed its iconic store in the Howells building in\u00a0Cardiff.<\/p>\n In January, it closed its department store in High Wycombe, two months after its store in Westfield Shepherd's Bush closed for the last time.<\/p>\n The survival of high street giant Wilko is also up in the air at the moment. <\/p>\n The\u00a0retailer\u00a0collapsed into administration earlier this month, putting its 400 stores at risk of closure and 12,500 jobs in jeopardy.<\/p>\n But a second last-minute bid to rescue the ailing\u00a0business\u00a0has since been received by M2 Capital,\u00a0The Guardian reports.<\/p>\n However, it isn't all doom and gloom for shoppers. <\/p>\n Some retailers are opening or relocating their stores.<\/p>\n B&M is opening half a dozen new branches after a string of closures.<\/p>\n It's also relocating a string of shops across the UK.<\/p>\n The first new shop opened on August 16. <\/p>\n Here's the full list of stores opening in September:<\/p>\n Poundland has recently\u00a0confirmed that it is opening 15 stores across the UK.<\/p>\n In February, Primark confirmed plans to expand one of its stores and move two of its existing shops to\u00a0new locations.<\/p>\n The following month\u00a0it revealed it would be opening up more Greggs\u00a0cafes across the UK.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n But the retailer also has plans to open one more store within just weeks.<\/p>\n It will be opening a new 29,700-square foot store in the old British Home Stores (BHS) building at the Old George Mall in Salisbury, on September 13.<\/p>\n Do you have a money problem that needs sorting?
