Many viewers were happy to see barrel racers Mia (played by Eden Brolin) and Laramie (Hassie Harrison) given the boot in last night’s episode of Yellowstone. However, when ranch hand Teeter (Jen Landon) was also given the boot, fans of the Paramount drama accused the series of going against one of its biggest rules.

Yellowstone fans weren’t happy to see Teeter kicked off the ranch following the bunkhouse boys’ feud with the barrel racers.

As things continued to heat up between Lloyd (Forrie J Smith) and Walker (Ian Bohen), ranch manager Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser) was forced to step in.

He decides to consult with Yellowstone owner John Dutton (Kevin Costner) on the matter, who puts the ranch’s No Girls Allowed rule back into place.

Unfortunately, this meant fan favourite character Teeter, the girlfriend of Colby (Denim Richards) and a more than capable rancher, was also made to pack her bags.

Teeter was naturally furious with John, though not as frustrated as viewers who noticed a blatant contradiction with his decision to kick her out.

While John’s word is final, Teeter should have been immune from the ranch’s sexist policies as she had been branded with the Yellowstone logo.

This supposedly grants the cowboys a job for life, as long as they remain loyal to the Duttons and Yellowstone ranch.

Fans soon flocked to the message boards to complain about Teeter’s unceremonious exit from the show.

On Reddit, user Trayew said: “I thought the whole purpose of having the brand was having a job forever.

“If Teeter can be fired for something she’s not responsible for, does the brand even mean anything?”

It was then speculated branded ranchers may have to be taken to the ‘train station’ instead of being fired, which would mean paying for their job with their life.

John may have wanted to avoid such a brutal solution to the bunkhouse brawl, and realised banishing Teeter was the only feasible alternative.

Redditor PudzMom replied: “Maybe John doesn’t know Teeter has the brand.”

To which b1gm4nca explained: “Ok, but Rip does, and Rip was capable of passing that info on when John told him to fire her.”

And CarelessUse5861 said: “After all she’s done for the brand, now Dutton lets Teeter go so easily? She’s never caused any trouble.”

Her brand could hopefully provide her way back to the series if and when John realises his mistake.

Then again, others have speculated her exit could be more set up for Yellowstone’s upcoming offshoot based around the 6666 ranch.

Smithsp86 suggested:” Maybe she’ll go back to Texas and work 6666?”

Several fans agreed, so hopefully this won’t be the last we see of Teeter, who could even take the lead in Yellowstone’s anticipated spin-off series.

Yellowstone season 4 continues Sundays on Paramount.
