La Brea is a fantasy sci-fi drama about a sinkhole that suddenly appears in the middle of Los Angeles. The disaster causes a family to be ripped in two as a mum and son find themselves in a new world while a father and daughter are desperate to find their loved ones. The NBC drama will star the likes of Natalie Zea, Zyra Gorecki, Jon Seda and Nicholas Gonzalez – but where was it filmed?
Where is La Brea on NBC filmed?
Shooting of the new drama started back in May this year.
La Brea is set in the heart of Los Angeles where the mysterious sinkhole opens up.
However, filming did not take place in LA and in fact, it didn’t happen in America whatsoever.
Surprisingly, La Brea was actually shot Down Under in Australia.

Production occurred on the fantasy drama in the Australian state of Victoria.
More specifically, the shooting of La Brea was primarily in Melbourne.
According to NME, funding worth $9.66m [AUD] was secured from the federal government’s Location Incentive programme as well as the Victorian government’s screen industry package which was around $33.8m.
Shooting, post-production and any visual effects all happened in Melbourne, Australia.
Prior to filming starting, it was predicted that more than $71m would be made for the nation’s economy.
In a statement, Victorian creative industries minister Danny Pearson said: “After a challenging year, our screen industry is well and truly back with a strong pipeline of projects now shooting across the state and more projects on the way, supporting Victorian jobs and talent.
“We have a long-standing relationship with NBCUniversal and we warmly welcome them back to Melbourne with their series La Brea.”
Fans won’t have to wait very much longer to see how it all begins.
