THIS Morning fans joined hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield in being completely shocked at man's 'insane' life story.
Texan man Roman Sosa appeared on the ITV morning show to talk about how he faked his own murder – complete with gory photos – after learning his wife had hired a hitman to kill him.
In a lengthy segment on Wednesday's episode, Roman revealed how he'd fallen head over heels in love with Maria 'Lulu' Dorantes and married her at the turn of the century.
"We met one night and couldn't stop dancing," Roman told Holly and Phil.
After a few years of marriage, the boxing coach learned Maria had set up an elaborate scheme to have him murdered.
But rather than confront her, he hatched a plan that would see Lulu put behind bars for the next two decades – however, it meant he'd have to carry on living under the same roof.
Lulu, she had approached a guy called Gustavo to see if he could organise the hit, without realising he and Ramon were friends.
The would-be criminal then joined forces with Ramon – and on his next meeting with Lulu, he hid a microphone inside his clothing and taped their conversation, before handing the incriminating evidence into Houston cops.
But it wasn't enough, so police suggested Ramon pretended to be dead for a photograph that they could show Lulu.
With the support of the FBI, Texas Rangers painted bloody makeup on Ramon, so it looked as though he had been shot through the temple.
Phil warned viewers the photos might seem graphic but they were fake, "because Ramon is alive, we're talking to him now".
Ramon revealed his mum found out on TV that he had 'died' and his whole family thought he was dead for days to keep up the ruse and entrap Lulu.
"How was it when you went back to your family, your kids after they thought you were dead," Holly asked, as Ramon explained it was a difficult moment but necessary to get the evidence on his wife.
This Morning shared the video of the dramatic moment police arrested Lulu as Holly and Phil sympathised with Ramon.
Lulu pleaded guilty to solicitation of murder at the District Court in Conroe, Texas. She was jailed for 20 years in October 2016.
Many viewers were shocked at the story, with some convinced it was either not real or would make excellent fodder for a TV drama.
"This story is insane omg. They need to make a movie out of this," wrote one Twitter user.
Another added: "This mans story is actually extraordinary – and imagine having to let your family think you’re dead."
And a third said: "This is insane, it must be heartbreakingly to discover the woman you love, wants you dead! but he got her!! Netflix and Danny Boyle GET ON THIS."
