The Young and the Restless is set to become the second soap to begin taping again as they aim to restart production in July.
The CBS daytime drama is following in the footsteps of its sister-soap, The Bold and the Beautiful which made a tentative return to set last week.
According to Deadline, the soap’s producers have sent a letter to cast and crew to notify them about a plan to restart production on July 6.
Due to the ever-changing Covid-19 conditions, the show’s production plans are very much a goal at this point.
But if there is no reason to hold them back from heading to the set on July 6, the show will start to work on new episodes.
The network is taking every precaution to keep cast and crew safe, and they have even paused filming on B&B last week.
Variety reported that it had been forced to halt production ‘to better accommodate the large volume of testing needed.’
A slimmed-down cast and crew returned to Television City Studios on June 17, after a three-month break from filming due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
A spokesperson for the show’s producer Bell-Phillip Television said in a statement: ‘We have paused very briefly to modify our testing protocol to better accommodate the large volume of testing needed.
‘Safety remains our top priority as we continue to move forward with the production of the Bold and the Beautiful. B&B filmed with cast and crew today and it was a successful first day back at work.’
It was then revealed that filming would resume on June 23.
The Young and the Restless airs at 12.30pm (ET) on CBS.
