The Chasers Road Trip’s Mark Labbett slams producers for ‘wasting time’

The Chase star Mark Labbett has revealed the reason why he and his co-stars appeared to be in a mood when television producers attempted to encourage them to sleep at a campsite, rather than a hotel.

Following Thursday night's episode of The Chasers Road Trip, Anne Hegerty tweeted her thoughts on the campsite as she acknowledged her "diva strop".

Mark, 55, Anne and Shaun Wallace, 60, eventually refused to camp under the stars during the second episode of the three-part series which test whether the three quiz masters are in fact as intelligent as they think.

Addressing her 148,000 Twitter followers, Anne who is known as The Governess penned: "#ChasersRoadTrip #TheChasersRoadTrip So, it's quite possible that the campsite was actually extremely nice (I have since been told that it was)."

She went on to say: "However, we had been promised a) a hotel, b) no more surprises. Ergo diva strop."

Just one minute after Anne sent her tweet, her co-star Mark responded, acknowledging the fact that those who live with autism "hate" being surprised.

Anne, 62, has spoken candidly about living with Asperger's in the past, including during her time on I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!

In a follow-up tweet to his 139,000 followers, The Beast went on to say: "For those who don't like me that is your absolute privilege.

A second added: "I've absolutely adored your show and I love the relationship between you all, thanks for bringing some happiness to these uncertain times."

"If I had just one per cent of your self-confidence I'd be happy! Each episode I see of Anne I just love her more & more; she's refreshingly honest and very funny. I love how you and Shaun are so protective of her, keep it up," penned a third.

Anne also pointed out that the series was filmed in 2019 after one viewer noticed people "shaking hands" which is currently forbidden due to the coronavirus pandemic.
