Queen Elizabeth II, 94, celebrated her birthday earlier this month, making today’s edition of The Chase rather topical. Bradley Walsh, 60, welcomed another bunch of contestants to the show, with The Beast star Mark Labbett, 54, challenging the quizzing amateurs. However, it could have very well been a question about the Royal Family which lost the game for the budding contestants on the ITV quiz show. One of the player’s suggested the monarch was born a lot later than her actual day of birth, leaving viewers very frustrated.
Having made it to the Final Chase, all four of the contestants were hoping they would walk away with a share of the £24,000 jackpot.
Coming together for the first time, the team managed to accumulate 18 steps between their money and the Chaser.
In the midst of the questioning, however, one of the player’s made an error when they were asked: “Which royal birth was registered in 2013?”
Thrown by the speed at which an answer needed to be given, quizzing amateur Benji said it was Her Majesty who was born seven years ago, sending social media into a frenzy.

Taking to Twitter, one confused viewer wrote: “The Queen is only 7 years old according to Benji….#TheChase.”
Another added on the micro-blogging site: “Queen Liz was born in 2013 apparently. #TheChase,” to which a third posted: “Did he just say Queen Elizabeth??? #TheChase.”
The meltdown didn’t stop there, as a fourth remarked: “Queen Elizabeth, famously born in 2013 #TheChase.”
“Happy 7th birthday Queen Elizabeth #TheChase,” a fifth commented, as a sixth shared: “Our queen is 6 years old? #TheChase.”

Despite their best efforts and the confusion of the Queen’s birthday, the team, unfortunately, lost to Mark, who caught them with plenty of time to spare.
One viewer shared of the result on Twitter: “Took Mark just over a minute to match the team’s number of correct answers #thechase.”
A second added: “#TheChase very unlucky team tonight @MarkLabbett was on great form in the final can’t wait for more @ITVChase drama tomorrow.”
Earlier on in the show, Bradley was forced to reject a contestant’s offer as they suggested he could be part of how she spent her winnings.

Following a triumphant cash builder by contestant Chris, it was Grace’s turn to see if she could add to the jackpot prize.
Taking to the floor, the player revealed to the host she was a fiend for a good book, having studied the texts of Jane Austen and Charles Dickens.
However, it was her marital relationship which the quizzing amateur wanted to put her winnings towards.
Asked by Bradley how she would spend the money, the Chaser’s competitor said: “I would like to renew my wedding vows,” before explaining how the presenter would be part of her plans.

“And where would you go to renew? Would you go to Vegas?” the host asked, to which the contestant shrugged off his suggestion.
Grace told Bradley she wanted to get married on a farm with hay bales and tipis making up the celebratory setting.
The host seemed onboard with the idea, to which the player told him he should come along to the vow renewal.
“I’m going to Vegas,” he joked, rejecting the amateur quizzer’s offer of joining her for the big day.
The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV.
