SWAT fans received the disappointing news ahead of episode seven’s expected release date that it had been delayed. Originally slated for November 19 on CBS, it will finally premiere after a two-week break from screens. The team will be back doing what they do best, this time hunting down a band of dangerous mercenaries.
What time does season five, episode seven air?
Following CBS’s transmission of episode six, fans expected another short week-long wait for episode seven.
However, that didn’t come to pass, as the episode was delayed, disappointing viewers after episode six’s satisfying conclusion.
CBS reassured fans though, confirming episode seven would debut on Friday, December 3 at 7pm CST.
The network did not give a specific reason for the delay, though there are several reasons why it may have happened.
Most likely it was due to the Thanksgiving season, with CBS wanting to delay the airtime in order to not lose any viewership.
Although, as CarterMatt suggested, “scheduling needs” is another possible reason for the extended break.
Most shows undergo a mid-season break, so it isn’t out of the ordinary for this to happen.
Episode seven, titled Keep the Faith, will be picking up directly from where episode six left off.
What is season five, episode seven about?
CBS has released an official synopsis of the episode, teasing fans for what to expect after the extended wait.
The synopsis reads: “The team works together to hunt down a deadly band of mercenaries hired by a wealthy CEO trying to leave the country before he’s arrested for running a massive Ponzi scheme.
“Also, Hondo (played by Shemar Moore) is forced to confront his changing relationship with Darryl (Deshae Frost) as the teen grows closer to his father, and a grief-stricken Chris hits rock bottom.”
In the previous episode, viewers finally got what they were waiting for, with Hondo retaking command of his squad.
Fans loved the episode, bringing the conclusion of season four full circle.
Of course, what they loved the most was seeing Hondo best Rodrigo Sanchez (David DeSantos) for leadership of the team, bringing to an end his plans to take over.
With Hondo now back in charge, it seems it will be just like old times for the team.
However, the group will have to focus on the mission at hand, with the mercenaries they are facing now more dangerous than ever.
CBS has also released various stills for episode eight, titled Safe House.
The plot is unconfirmed, though it looks as though the team will be caught off guard in the episode.
Running and gunning in civilian clothing, it looks as though they will be trying and failing to lay low.
Of course, with Hondo back in charge, the only solution will be to confront the enemy guns blazing.
SWAT season five continues on Friday, December 3 at 7pm CST on CBS in the USA. A UK release date is yet to be confirmed.
