STRICTLY’S Mr Nasty Craig Revel Horwood is getting nicer — dishing out more positive comments, fewer negative put-downs and giving higher scores.

Statistics show he has been a lot kinder in this year’s series compared to 2019’s with the average amount of encouraging feedback he gives celebs more than doubling and his marks increasing by one.

In week one he gave an average of 2.5 positive remarks per celebrity with just 1.7 on the same show last year.

He’s also reined in his catty comments with just three made a dance in the opening show compared to 4.2 in 2019.

In fact, in the second week of the BBC dance show he doubled the amount of pleasant feedback compared to the previous year with 3.1.

And each week Craig, 55, has handed out an average mark of at least half more and the majority of the time one higher.

On Saturday he told American footballer Jason Bell, 42, who eventually got booted from the competition: “I do love you darling… well done.”

And despite telling pop star Hrvy, 21, he didn’t see one single “cha-cha-cha“ he told him and partner Janette Manrara, 36: “The story I absolutely loved.

"I would love to have two gnomes like you in my garden.”

Craig has become a cult figure on the show due to being sometimes the only negative voice of the four judges which includes him, Shirley Ballas, 60, Motsi Mabuse,39, and Bruno Tonioli, 64.

In 2014 he told Radio 1 DJ Scott Mills, 46: “You are the exception to the rule that anyone can learn to dance.”

He scathed singer Heather Smalls, 55, a contestant in 2008: “Lifeless, lacklustre, laboured, really the only good thing about that for me was the end.”

And in 2014 he hit back at tennis ace Andy Murray’s mum Judy, 61: “You also had a bizarre sort of vacant look on your face that resembled someone who had been lobotomised.”
