Spoilers: Sharon learns Phil is responsible for Dennis' death in EastEnders

Sharon Mitchell’s (Letitia Dean) world came crashing down in EastEnders last week when son Dennis Rickman (Bleu Landau) died during the party boat celebrations, but matters became a lot more complicated during tonight’s episode, as Karen Taylor (Lorraine Stanley) revealed that Phil Mitchell’s (Steve McFadden) actions were instrumental in the young boy’s demise.

With Keanu (Danny Walters) having kidnapped Callum (Tony Clay), Ben (Max Bowden) informed Phil about what had happened in the hopes that he could get the money needed to pay off the young mechanic. However, Phil returned to Walford, and his desire for revenge resulted in an altercation aboard the party boat — which is what ultimately caused the crash that led to Dennis’ death.

Sharon has naturally struggled to come to terms with the loss of her beloved Denny — especially considering she’s just given birth as well. During tonight’s episode, she headed out for a walk with her new-born, but the first thing she saw was a newspaper mentioning the boat crash.

She made her way to the gardens and sat down on the bench. Karen approached, and relayed her apologies for what had happened, but as the pair spoke, Karen ended up revealing that Phil was responsible for the chaos that ensued on board the boat.

As a result, Sharon came to believe that Phil had killed Dennis.

She told Karen she could have the baby for a few hours the following day before heading off.

What will Sharon do with this information?

EastEnders continues Thursday 27 February at 7:30pm on BBC One.
