Carla Connor (Alison King) was faced with a huge choice in Coronation Street tonight (January 29), but ultimately love won out, as she decided to stay for Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne).
Carla has been desperately trying to persuade Peter to stop drinking.
However, her attempt to do just that earlier this week — which saw her read the alcoholic’s ‘suicide’ note to Simon (Alex Bain) — somewhat backfired, as Peter turned against her.
After an altercation with dad Ken (William Roache), Peter decided to try and give up the drink once more.
However, he was adamant that — in spite of his decision — he wanted nothing more to do with Carla.
Carla was devastated by such a thing, but she soon had other things on her mind, as old flame Lucas (Glen Wallace) arrived on the cobbles to do business with her, and the chemistry was apparent from the offset.
Lucas and Carla headed out for lunch in the bistro, and they ultimately took a trip down memory lane, as they reminisced about the past.
Carla then found herself with a decision to make, as charming Lucas invited her to stay the night with him at a hotel.
Ultimately, she decided that — as there is evidently no way back for her and Peter — she would, in fact, head to the hotel with Lucas.
Meanwhile, Roy Cropper (David Neilson) made Peter see sense, as he informed him that if he doesn’t act now, then he’ll lose Carla forever.
Having come to realise that this isn’t what he wants, Peter raced to the cafe to plead with Carla to stay put.
Conflicted once more, Carla wasn’t sure what would be the right call.
She headed to the tram station, where Lucas charmed her once more, but in spite of this, she ultimately returned to the cobbles, and chose Peter.
The pair reunited in emotional scenes, as Carla told him that it’s ‘never too late’ to fix what they’ve got.
Coronation Street continues Monday February 1 at 7:30pm on ITV.
