Riverdale’s Lili Reinhart admits cast’s future is uncertain as graduation ‘gives opportunities to leave’ – The Sun

RIVERDALE star Lili Reinhart has teased the potential exit of several main characters from the hit Netflix series.

Season four will see Betty, Archie, Veronica and Jughead take on their senior year, and with college looming, it's unknown who may stick around in Riverdale.

Lili, who stars as Betty, has now admitted that she has no idea how it may play out for fans, and that there are definite "opportunities for the kids to leave Riverdale".

She said: "“I mean, this is senior year. When season four wraps, I'm pretty sure the kids will have graduated, so as far as where it goes from here, I don't know.

"I think there's opportunities for the kids to leave Riverdale."

Howver, speaking to ET, she was also optimistic that things may not change as much as fans fear, adding: "But there's also opportunities for them to stay, and I think there's a lot of unfinished business for a lot of them."

The show, based on the Archie Comics, has become a huge Netflix juggernaut in recent years, having amassed a global fanbase throughout its three-year run.

Season one kicked off on the CW network in January 2017 while season two commenced premiered in October, 2017.

Its third run took off in October, 2018 and the fourth season very much followed suit by being released in October.

Much of the early episodes heavily centred around the death of Fred Andrews, who was played by the late Luke Perry.

However as the show reached it's mid-season finale, it ended on a major cliffhanger as it appeared the show had killed off Cole Sprouse's Jughead Jones.

Viewers saw a flashforward scene which appeared to show Betty holding a rock in her hand while Jughead lay unconscious on the floor, with Archie holding on to him and asking: "What did you do Betty?"
