Power season 6: Did actor Omari Hardwick predict Ghost’s fate back in series 1?

The past four episodes of Power have all focused on individual suspects who may be guilty of murdering Ghost (played by Omari Hardwick), shooting him and forcing the drug lord to fall from the Truth nightclub balcony. Fans have been desperate to know who is behind the murder in the Starz and Netflix show since the season six midseason finale. However, did Hardwick know from the beginning what was going to happen to Ghost?

Did Power actor Omari Hardwick predict Ghost’s fate in season 1?

Depending on the television show, actors may know the outcome of a dramatic storyline way in advance of them filming it and the scenes being aired, while others aren’t aware until the very last minute.

But like fans, actors do tend to think about their character’s futures and this was no different for Hardwick who has played Ghost since the first season of Power in 2014.

Speaking on Popcorn with Peter Travers, Hardwick said not long after the first season had finished, he had the idea while jogging that Ghost would be a “wanted man”.

He said: “I brought up in an email to Courtney [Kemp] and to Joseph [Sikora] — I only shared it with those two, I didn’t share it with Curtis [50 Cent].

“And I said I see this guy taking a bullet at the end. I saw the fate of the show.

“I saw him taking a bullet, but it was almost like Denzel [Washington] in Man On Fire, when Denzel had to give a life for a life to save his client. I made that the end.”

When Ghost was shot, Tommy (Joseph Sikora) ran to his aid when he found him lying in the street.

He heard the shooter leave the scene and Tommy was about to go after him when Ghost told his friend to “let it go”.

This has led some fans to believe the killer could be either ex-wife Tasha (Naturi Naughton) or son Tariq (Michael Rainey, Jr.), who he would want to protect, therefore in turn saving them from going to prison which could fit in with Hardwick’s original idea for the ending of Power.

But during the interview when Travers was intending to ask Hardwick a question relating to the remaining episodes, the actor admitted he has not seen the final five episodes himself.

When asked why, he replied: “I haven’t watched the last five, but I don’t know if I will watch them.

“I lived it. But the midseason finale that to me was the finale, which is episode 10.”

So now there is just one question which remains: who shot Ghost?

Power season 6 will continue on Sunday, February 9, on Starz.
