Piers Morgan branded Prince Harry's decision to step down as a Royal as "disgraceful” on Monday's Good Morning Britain, in the wake of his bombshell Oprah Winfrey interview.

The GMB presenter spoke out against Harry and Meghan Markle's two-hour-long interview with Oprah, which is due to air on ITV on Monday evening.

Speaking directly to Prince Harry, Piers accused him of abandoning the Royals and attempting to turn the world against the monarchy.

Debating with co-host Susanna Reid, he said: "America is trashing our country and trashing our monarchy now. I've been watching social media with a number of high-profile people coming out and using this as an excuse to trash this country.

"What was Prince Harry thinking? I know you ditched your country, Harry. You ditched us."

Prince Harry and Meghan announced their decision to distance themselves from their Royal title in March of last year, later confirming they will not return as working members of the Royal Family.

The couple, who welcomed baby Archie in May 2019, has since moved to Los Angeles, where they are working on a number of business endeavours together.

During the interview with Oprah, Harry and Meghan spoke candidly about their decision to leave, with Harry revealing his father Prince Charles refused to call him in the aftermath.

Harry said he was "trapped within the system" of the Royal family, speaking of the experience of his father and brother.

He said: "I didn't see a way out. I was trapped, but I didn't know I was trapped. But the moment that I met Meg, and our worlds collided in the most amazing of ways and then [I began] to see how trapped within the system, like, the rest of my family are. My father and my brother, they are trapped.

"They don't get to leave, and I have huge compassion for that."

Reacting to the interview, Piers raged at the Prince, bringing the Queen, and her legacy since the early 21st century, into the dialogue.

He said: "Now you want to turn the world against us and the Royal family?

"The thing your grandmother has worked so hard on, for six decades?”

Susanna chimed: "It's definitely a very painful interview.”

Piers finished his rant with the word "disgraceful,” condemning Prince Harry's actions as a Royal.

Good Morning Britain airs on weekdays at 6am on ITV.
