Fans will finally find out if agents Ellie Bishop (played by Emily Wickersham) and Nick Torres (Wilmer Valderrama) managed to hash out their feelings in tomorrow’s episode of NCIS. With the 18th episode of the popular CBS procedural coming to end, some viewers are speculating the new addition to the cast could become Bishop’s replacement.

Newcomer for the final episodes of NCIS season 18, Agent Jessica Knight (Katrina Law), is currently being tipped as Ellie Bishop’s new replacement.

Rumours of series regular Emily Wickersham’s departure have been circulating the series throughout the CBS staple’s current instalment.

Speculation has recently been reignited thanks to the first look at Agent Knight, who will be making their first appearance in season 18’s penultimate episode, ‘Blown Away’.

Although there are just two episodes left of the latest NCIS outing, Katrina Law has been cast in a recurring role, leaving the door open for her return in the future.

As well as the new episode on Tuesday, Law will also appear in the season finale, ‘Rule 91’, making her return at the start of season 19 a strong possibility.

Her character, Agent Knight, is described as a hostage negotiation specialist who is able to handle high-risk operations under intense pressure.

She is married to her stay-at-home dad husband who looks after their young son, which potentially stamps out rumours of an impending romance between Knight and Agent Torres.

Despite their much teased relationship seemingly coming to a head in the latest episode, Torres and his field partner and close friend Ellie Bishop could be saying their goodbyes in the coming episodes.

Some fans are convinced Agent Knight will be joining the cast as Bishop’s replacement, despite Jack Sloane (Maria Bello) also making her last appearance earlier this year.

One fan commented on the latest promo: “I hope that this isn’t the end of Bishop. Someone said that she was looking at countries.”

As Bishop’s career continues to evolve, she could be on the lookout for her next opportunity away from NCIS HQ in Washington.

Meanwhile, long term viewers are concerned Bishop and Torres’ ongoing flirtation could simply fizzle out, leaving them to go their separate ways.

Fans have also been extra vigilant when it comes to potential exits after Maria Bello bowed out from the series in March.

Over on Reddit, user TakenAccountName37 recently asked fans: “Anyone nervous about Bishop?”

Since Katrina Law could be set for a major role in the upcoming outing, her addition to the cast could be preempting Emily Wickersham’s upcoming departure in season 19.

They continued: “It would be cool if they both are on next season together, but who knows if they are?”

“The cast members for NCIS haven’t said much about the renewal and that’s a little concerning, but the cast for LA spoke about theirs.”

This fan also noted that Bishop’s name is specifically mentioned in the synopsis for next week’s finale, which often indicates a significant development for certain characters.

With just two episodes left of NCIS before the summer break, fans will be keeping their eyes open for updates and their fingers crossed for Emily Wickersham’s return next season.

NCIS season 18 continues Tuesday, May 18 on CBS.
