Money Heist has had plenty of twists and turns in its four seasons so far of the hit Spanish heist drama. Some fans have even predicted Tokyo’s (played by Úrsula Corberó) narration may play a big part in what will happen next in the drama – here’s what you need to know about how she could replace the Professor (Alvaro Morte).

Will Tokyo replace the Professor in Money Heist?

Fans of Money Heist will know how throughout the show so far, Tokyo has been narrating what has been happening.

Ever since season one, she has been doing this in the past tense, which has left some to wonder if she is speaking from a future point.

If she is, there are a number of suggestions about what this might mean for the story.

One major theory about Tokyo’s narration on the show suggests she might be telling the story of the heists to the next generation of recruits.

  • Money Heist: Stockholm star on ‘torturous’ La Casa De Papel scene

Fans have taken to Reddit to discuss this theory and whether it might be how the show comes to a final end.

User Arno1903 posted on the platform: “She is narrating the story to a new generation of Resistance, which consists of the offsprings of current Resistance members.

“We already have seen Nairobi’s (Alba Flores) son, Lisbon’s (Itziar Ituño) daughter and Stockholm’s (Esther Acebo) son (the one which I think will be the in-heist leader) in the series.

“And we know that Bogotá (Hovik Keuchkerian) and Berlin (Pedro Alonso) also have kids, at least this is what the dialogues suggest.

“But why is Tokyo narrating it to them? Do you ask? It is because she is also training them for upcoming heists. And this would be the spin-off series that is in talks.”

This would also mean Tokyo has taken over the role of the Professor in the show, who so far has been behind training his recruits in how to complete heists.

Such a replacement might also have huge implications for his future on the series.

As fans will remember season four ended with him in serious danger after Alicia Sierra (Najwa Nimri) had located his hideout.

Viewers last saw him with a gun held to his head by the police inspector before it cut to black.

His fate is set to be addressed when the series returns with season five but this could mark the end of his character.

If he were to die, this might explain how Tokyo could replace him in the future.

However, not all fans are as sold on the idea with some suggesting the fact Tokyo is the narrator might not actually have a huge impact on the story.

User LilPartOfTheUniverse replied: “I don’t like this whole ‘next generation’ idea and I think it’s not realistic in terms of the purpose of the show/the narration.

“I don’t believe Tokyo is the only survivor. They wanted the Professor to narrate at first but thought it to be too narcissistic.”

  • Money Heist season 5: Will Sierra kill the Professor?

While fan PlanParis added their prediction: “The gang fakes their own death and can go and live their lives happily in some remote place without the police chasing after them anymore.

“That’s not to say there won’t be more losses in the group… but it wouldn’t be a satisfying ending if most of them didn’t make it alive in the end.

“I especially want a happy ending for the Professor, Lisbon (Itziar Ituño), Denver (Jaime Lorente), Helsinki (Darko Perić) and Marseille (Luka Peroš).”

With so many conflicting theories about how it will all play out, it seems like viewers might just have to wait and see what twists the writers have up their sleeves next.

Money Heist seasons 1-4 are available to stream on Netflix now.
