In Lucifer season three, Smallville star Tom Welling appeared as the antagonist Marcus Pierce/Cain and fans have been anticipating his return to the series ever since. Express.co.uk has everything you know about Welling’s potential return to the final series.
Will Marcus Pierce appear in the final series of Lucifer?
At the moment, the return of Marcus Pierce (played by Tom Welling) has not officially been confirmed by Lucifer showrunners Idly Modrovich and Joe Henderson or Welling himself.
However, his return does look promising, after Welling is reportedly attending a Lucifer Convention in Chicago with the main cast of Lucifer.
NerdsandBeyond.com reported Welling had been added as a guest to the Lucifer convention, which is expected to place on Saturday, May 2 and Sunday, May 3.
At the moment, the convention is still going ahead but this may change due to the current worldwide coronavirus outbreak. Express.co.uk will update this article when more information is available.

At the convention, he will join an already confirmed line up of Lucifer stars, Tom Ellis, Lesley-Ann Brandt, Aimee Garcia, Rachael Harris, DB Woodside and Kevin Alejandro.
The fact Welling has been added to the line up has led Lucifer fans to suspect he will almost certainly make an appearance in the final outing of Lucifer.
Alongside this news, fans believe the season five, episode 11 title points to Peirce’s return.
Episode 11 is titled ‘Resting Devil Face’ and fans immediately took to Twitter to share their theories about who the title is referring too.
One fan tweeted: “Oh my… this reminds me of Pierce.. do you remember when in a sting operation Lucifer said to him ‘Don’t give me your resting Pierce face’..? I really hope it has NOTHING to do with him!”
A second fan commented: “I really want Chloe to know everything that Lucifer has done for her. And for her to tell him why she said yes to Pierce. And also the Vegas thing.”
Alongside a photograph of Marcus Pierce, one fan said: “Resting Devil Face still better than resting Pierce Face.”
Moreover, Henderson and Modrovich have previously teased that a familiar face will appear in the new series and with Lucifer (played by Tom Ellis) returning to hell at the beginning of the new series, it is highly possible he could meet Marcus Pierce, who is really the evil Cain.
Welling has not commented on whether he would return to the Lucifer universe since leaving the show after season three.

Lucifer theories: Season 6 to explore Lucifer and Maze’s backstory?
Tom Welling starred as Marcus Pierce, an LAPD Lieutenant and boss of Chloe Decker (Lauren Decker), Dan Espinoza (Kevin Alejandro) and Ella Lopez (Aimee Garcia) in season three of Lucifer.
However, it was later uncovered Tom was Cain, the world’s first murderer and the oldest son of Adam and Eve from the Garden of Eden.
Cain had killed his brother Abel after years of fighting. As a punishment from God, he was “doomed to walk the Earth alone for a tortured eternity,“ and was cursed with immortality.
Believing Cain had killed Chloe, in a fit of rage Lucifer killed Cain, stabbing him to death with one of Maze’s (Lesley Ann-Brandt) demon blades.

Cain originally believed he would be going to heaven, confessing he has no regrets.
However, Lucifer knew Cain regretted killing Chloe Richards (Tricia Helfer) and told Cain in his final moments he will torture himself with guilt in hell.
Fans will just have to wait until season five drops on Netflix to find out whether Tom Welling will reprise his role as Marcus Pierce/Cain.
The series is expected to premiere in May 2020 on Netflix worldwide.
There will be 16 episodes in the final season, split into two halves.
