Line of Duty fans go wild as cast reunite for series six and show bosses sign off on final script

LINE of Duty fans have gone wild after the cast reunited for series six and show bosses signed off on the final script.

Adrian Dunbar, Martin Compston and Vicky McClure posed for a cosy picture with season six guest star Kelly Macdonald earlier today.

The snap was shared on BBC One's official Twitter page with the caption: "Back to work for this lot at the #LineOfDuty Series 6 read-through!"

Fans were delighted to see the trio back together alongside Kelly, who is joining the show as Detective Chief Inspector Joanne Davidson.

One wrote on Twitter: "IM SO HAPPY".

Another tweeted: "Buzzzzzing."

A third added: "On edge lol cannot wait to hear the title music LOVE IT."

Each season sees a different actor guest star in a prominent role, and Kelly's DCI Davidson arrives in season six to investigate an unsolved murder.

However, her conduct arouses suspicion among the rest of AC-12.

When the Boardwalk Empire star was confirmed for the show last year, writer Jed Mercurio said: "We’re honoured that Kelly Macdonald will join Martin, Vicky and Adrian in series six of Line of Duty.

"DCI Joanne Davidson will prove the most enigmatic adversary AC-12 have ever faced."

Previous guest stars have included Thandie Newton and most recently, Stephen Graham.

While there is no official premiere date yet, Jed previously told "I would hope it's sometime in 2020."
