Jay arrested in EastEnders after Janine frames him for dodgy car scheme

Jay Brown (Jamie Borthwick) paid a shocking price in EastEnders, as he was hauled off by the police after Janine Butcher (Charlie Brooks) set him up for her car theft scheme.

Since rocking up in Walford earlier this year, Janine has been desperate to get her hands on some cash, and upon acquiring a job at the car lot, she wasted little time in devising a money-making scheme.

She joined forces with nephew Liam (Alfie Deegan), who has been stealing motors for her, which she then sells off.

Jay, however, found out about the duo’s crime last week, and after his anger subsided, he decided to join forces with them, hoping to secure enough cash to pay off a hefty phone bill.

But the operation resulted in the police arriving on their doorstep, after several cars went missing during one of Tiffany Butcher-Baker’s (Maisie Smith) parties.

With the authorities investigating, Janine decided to pin the blame on Jay.

Billy Mitchell (Perry Fenwick), however, refused to set Jay up for the crime. Janine insisted that he do so, and thus he took hold of the stolen jewellery from one of the cars, and set about planting it in Jay’s coat.

But, ultimately, he couldn’t do it.

Instead, he disposed of the item in a bin. Little did he know, however, that Janine witnessed him doing so, and thus she retrieved it and did the job herself, framing Jay for her own crimes.

After she tipped off the police, Jay was arrested in front of Honey (Emma Barton), Janet and Will, leaving Billy feeling incredibly guilty.

Will Jay go to prison?
