The Good Doctor is the heartfelt medical drama that has won itself a legion of followers since it started in 2017. Once again, Shaun Murphy (played by Freddie Highmore), Lea Dilallo (Paige Spara) and the rest of the gang at St Bonaventure Hospital will return for season five. However, one very popular member of the team is not going to be starring in the next series on ABC.
WARNING: This article contains spoilers from The Good Doctor.
Dr Claire Browne (Antonia Thomas) has been one of Shaun’s most trusted friends at the hospital, speaking to her about his romantic dilemmas and other personal issues throughout the years.
She had suffered her own heartache recently with both the death of her mum Breeze Browne (Sharon Leal) and love interest Neil Melendez (Nicholas Gonzalez).
So when she travelled to Guatemala with the rest of her team to help out a small hospital that was very much in need, she knew this was to be her new calling.
Claire stayed behind in the under-developed country in order to start a new life.

How many episodes are in The Good Doctor season 5?
ABC has not yet officially confirmed how many episodes are going to make up series five of The Good Doctor.
The exact number remains under wraps for now with everyone staying tight-lipped on the matter.
But fans can make an educated guess using the previous four series as a guide.
The first two series of the drama were made up of 18 episodes each.
Seasons three and four though were made up of 20 instalments.
Given how these are the most recent series, it is more likely that season five will also consist of 20 episodes.
This could be the case, so long as filming wasn’t disturbed by the coronavirus pandemic which led to a two-month delay for the series four premiere.
Either way, season five should have at least 18 episodes for fans to look forward to.

The end of season four was filled with romance with two couples taking their relationship to the next level.
First, there was Alex Park (Will Yun Lee) and Morgan Reznick (Fiona Gubelmann) who had previously been casually sleeping together.
Their trip to Guatemala eventually made them confess their feelings for one another and they made their relationship official.
Shaun and Lea also took a giant leap in the right direction before they hopped onto a plane, back to San Jose.
The couple was heartbroken as Lea suffered a miscarriage during season four.
They were able to stay strong and did not let this tragedy break them which made Lea realise that he was the one.
So she proposed to Shaun and he accepted with delight, ending the series with their engagement.
The Good Doctor season 5 premieres on September 27 on ABC in America. A UK release date hasn’t been announced.
