Grey’s Anatomy to end season 16 early as coronavirus pandemic halts production – The Sun

GREY'S Anatomy season 16, which was originally set to end on May 16, is now airing its finale on April 9.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic shutting down the ABC show’s production, there will be four fewer episodes this season than planned.

The network ordered 25 episodes for the current season, but after production was halted a couple of weeks ago, only 21 episodes were able to be completed, according to TVLine.

Grey’s Anatomy has already aired 19 of those episodes, with only two left to premiere.

ABC has already released the titles, air dates and synopses for the each of them.

The promo summary for episode 20 (titled “Sing It Again), airing on April 2, reveals: “Owen and Link treat an older woman who wakes up from surgery and can’t stop singing.

“Teddy helps Koracick stay afloat after an estranged loved one from his past comes to the hospital looking for help.

“Meredith, Bailey and Maggie focus their efforts on a difficult patient with a tricky diagnosis.”

The show’s cast includes Ellen Pompeo as Meredith Grey, Chandra Wilson as Miranda Bailey, James Pickens Jr. as Richard Webber, Kevin McKidd as Owen Hunt, Jesse Williams as Jackson Avery and Caterina Scorsone as Amelia Shepherd.

Also starring are Camilla Luddington as Jo Wilson, Kelly McCreary as Maggie Pierce, Kim Raver as Teddy Altman, Giacomo Gianniotti as Andrew DeLuca, Greg Germann as Tom Koracick, Chris Carmack as Link and Jake Borelli as Levi Schmitt.

Next week’s episode guest stars Debbie Allen as Catherine Fox, Jason George as Ben Warren, Jaicy Elliot as Taryn Helm, James Saito as Herschel Roberts, Kheng Hua Tan as Vera Roberts and Dana Wheeler-Nicholson as Dana Hamilton.

The season 16 finale, which is now episode 21, airs on April 9.

The synopsis shares: “Link tries to convince Amelia to take it easy during the final stage of her pregnancy. Hayes asks Meredith a surprising question, and Owen makes a shocking discovery.”

Titled “Put on a Happy Face,” the episode also guest stars Debbie and Jaicy, as well as Stefania Spampinato as Carina DeLuca, Richard Flood as Cormac Hayes, Caroline Basu as Daya, Raoul Bhaneja as Samar and Chris Meyer as CJ Madison.

The medical drama has already been renewed for season 17
