Good Morning Britaind Susanna Reid confirms shes taking a break from the ITV show

Susanna Reid has said that she'll be taking a brief break from Good Morning Britain for half term.

The broadcaster confirmed that she'd be taking a week off for the school holiday after entertainment presenter Richard Arnold let the news slip during his segment.

Speaking about Nick Cannon, Richard mentioned the American TV host and comedian's many kids, saying: "Nick Cannon for the uninitiated, just in case you didn't understand that reference, has 12 children which is quite the litter — you've got to get up quite early for that," with Susanna replying: "Or go to bed quite late."

Richard then added: "Oh look at you! Someone's going on half term!" with Susanna laughing before confirming that she'll be taking a short break from the programme.

"I can confirm that I am off today, leaving it in your capable hands," she said. "No more interruptions during your bulletins."

Susanna, who has three children between the ages of 18 and 21, regularly takes the half-term break off work and was temporarily replaced by Ranvir Singh for a week in February to do so.

While it's unclear who will be stepping in for Susanna, the show has previously seen the likes of Charlotte Hawkins, Ranvir, Adil Ray and Robert Rinder serve as anchors in the absence of one of GMB regulars.

Wednesday''s show saw Susanna present alongside Richard Madeley, who left viewers squirming on Tuesday while interviewing Gary Lineker over his March suspension from the BBC.

The football pundit accused Richard of "misrepresenting" his comments on the government's use of language around immigration after saying he'd compared the UK government to that of the "Nazi" dictatorship.

"I didn't compare the government to the Nazis, I didn't talk about the Holocaust, I didn't do any of that. All I said was, some of the language is not dissimilar to that used back in the thirties in Germany and there is a substantial difference in that," Gary responded after saying that a Daily Mail headline had "caused this furore in the first place".

Later in the day, Gary addressed the GMB interview on Chris Moyles' Radio X show, describing it as an "interesting little interview" and comparing Richard to Steve Coogan's comedy character Alan Partridge.
