Emmerdale's Faith given tragic news that cancer will shorten her life

Faith Dingle (Sally Dexter) has received devastating news in Emmerdale – her cancer has returned, and it will shorten her life.

This week, Faith’s friends and family have wondered why she’s been behaving so strangely.

She got herself arrested after throwing a dumbbell at Liam’s (Dan Fox) front door, which left PC Harriet (Katherine Dow Blyton) wondering what was going on to make her act so out of sorts.

Right now, Faith’s relationship with Cain (Jeff Hordley) and Chas (Lucy Pargeter) is still in pieces, so Moira (Natalie J Robb) took it upon herself to get to the bottom of things.

Stopping Faith on the side of the road, Moira discovered her secret – her cancer is back.

Tonight, Faith and Moira attended an appointment at the hospital, where a doctor gave Faith the results of her latest biopsy.

The doctor explained that the cancer has spread to Faith’s lungs, bone and spine and now, because the metastasis is growing at a rapid rate, her illness is treatable – not curable.

This means the cancer will shorten Faith’s life.

Attempting to process the news came to a sudden halt for Faith and Moira, as they were told Cain and Chas had been involved in a car accident.

Emmerdale is working with the charity Breast Cancer Now, who recently said:

‘With it estimated that around 35,000 people are living with secondary breast cancer in the UK, it’s been an incredibly important opportunity for us to provide expert guidance around Faith’s storyline – giving a steer to script writers as to how her diagnosis and experience of the disease can be portrayed accurately and raising awareness of some of the signs and symptoms of secondary breast cancer among millions of Emmerdale fans.’
