Emmerdale fan favourites, Aaron Dingle and Robert Sugden, will leave the village forever next week as they go on the run.
The couple decide to flee Emmerdale when they get the news that rapist, Lee Posner, has died in hospital.
Lee’s death means that Robert is looking at a murder charge rather than a GBH with intent charge.
Victoria – who vile Lee raped earlier this year – arrives at the Mill and tells Aaron and Robert the devastating news.
A stunned Robert begins to unravel when Aaron’s sister, Liv Flaherty, suggests that the couple – who are affectionately dubbed Robron by fans – go on the run.
Robert and Aaron decide this is the best course of action when they’re hit by the reality of the situation.
At the Village Hall, Aaron tells his mum, Chas Dingle, that he’s planning on going on the run with Robert.
Chas is understandably devastated and by the time Aaron has finished talking to her, he’s an emotional wreck too.
Before long Aaron and Robert say some emotional goodbyes to their friends and family before they drive away to start their life on the run.
It was announced earlier this year that Ryan Hawley who plays Robert would be leaving the ITV soap.
An ITV source said: “Emmerdale fans have loved every minute of RobRon’s story, and what Ryan has brought to playing Robert.
“But he has decided to take a break from the show for the foreseeable future and try other projects.
“He will leave later this year, but fans can expect to see him on screen right up until the end of the year. He will be sorely missed.”
Ryan has played the popular character since 2014, becoming the fourth actor to portray Robert following Richard Smith, Christopher Smith and Karl Davies. Danny Miller – who plays Aaron – will remain in the show.
