EastEnders star Kellie Bright revealed that she once appeared in the BBC One soap prior to being cast as Linda Carter, playing another character.
The fact — that only die-heard EastEnders fans knew — was revealed during tonight’s premiere episode of Secrets From The Square.
Prior to discussing Mick and Linda Carter, presenter Stacey Dooley enquired about both Kellie and co-star Danny Dyer’s first real experiences with EastEnders.
Kellie said: ‘In ’86, I was at Lofty and Michelle’s wedding.
‘ I was an extra — as we called ourselves extras in those days. I was a supporting artist.
‘I had to come in late to the church, and my mum had to walk me up the aisle because I wanted to go to the loo or something.’
‘The only shot of me that you saw was the back of my head, I think. You just see my long blond hair, I was wearing a peach dress. I remember it very well.’
The episode in question — the soap’s 168th — saw Michelle Fowler’s (Susan Tully) long-awaited wedding to George ‘Lofty’ Holloway (Tom Watt) arrive, and unable to go through with the service, Michelle left him at the altar.
Kellie made her first appearance as Linda a whopping 4,597 episodes later, on the 19th December 2013.
EastEnders: Secrets From The Square continues next Monday at 8pm on BBC One. The iconic Den and Angie two-hander episode will be re-shown tomorrow at 7:30pm on BBC One.
