EastEnders: Jake Wood prepares for final day as Max Branning
Linda Carter (played by Kellie Bright) has embarked on an illicit affair with Max Branning (Jake Wood) and the EastEnders lothario could have been pushed to extreme lengths to prove his devotion to his latest love interest. Max was seen burying the statue reportedly used to harm Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) but was he hiding evidence for himself or Linda?
After spending the night at Max’s, Linda asked: “Has Jack [Branning] (Scott Maslen) said anything? Have they got any new lead on Ian?”
“I don’t know,” Max replied. “I don’t really want to talk about Jack, definitely don’t want to talk about Ian.”
“I don’t either really not after he tried to blackmail us and ruin my marriage,” Linda quipped.
“What are you saying? It’s not ruined already?” Max hit back.

“Linda, last night well you know what it was like and I don’t want to go back to doing what I was doing before creepy around behind people’s backs,” Max said. “Everything’s changed, I don’t want us to keep hiding away.”
“This is the first time Max in my whole life I have ever gone to another man’s bed,” Linda revealed.
“I don’t know what I’m saying, I need time, I need to think.”
Later, Max walked over to Linda in the square and said: “There’s been a shooting apparently. Jack said Sharon and Ian are alright.”
“Shame about Ian,” Linda hit back and Max warned: “Don’t let the police hear you say that.”
“There’s plenty of people around here thinking the same,” Linda quipped.
Elsewhere in the episode, Jack told Max the police were looking for an item made of blue glass as a possible attempted-murder weapon.
Max was later seen burying the blue Lucy Beale Foundation statue down by the allotments.

EastEnders viewers suspected Max was covering for his new woman rather than for himself.
One fan theorised: “Could Max be burying the murder weapon to protect Linda?? @bbceastenders #EastEnders.”
“Right now, Max covering for Linda is springing to mind. #EastEnders,” another agreed.
A third said: “#EastEnders I wonder if the Lucy Beale award was what Ian got hit with, could Max be covering for Linda maybe?”
“Max may have the weapon but could it be he didn’t attack Ian and that he went to the Vic, saw the weapon and assumed Linda did it so took the weapon #EastEnders,” someone else shared.
A fifth tweeted: “Ngl I’m going to be very disappointed if Max is the one who attacked Ian. At least shake it up a bit #EastEnders.”
Could Linda have confided in Max or have been caught in the act on the night in question?
Or did Max finally snap at Ian and brutally attack him for embezzling his money?
EastEnders continues on BBC One tonight at 7.35pm.
