EastEnders' Janine exits with Mick – but the truth hides in plain sight

Janine Butcher (Charlie Brooks) narrowly avoided the wrath of Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) in EastEnders, as she successfully stopped Scarlett (Tabitha Byron) from revealing the truth about the car crash.

Scarlett, as viewers know, has some degree of knowledge about her mum’s involvement in Linda’s misery, and she decided to do the right thing earlier this week when she found out that Janine was pregnant.

Fearing that she would be forgotten when the new baby comes along, Scarlett spoke to Linda, who reassured her that Mick would never allow such a thing to happen.

Despite the landlady’s efforts, however, Scarlett was still convinced that the truth about what her mum is capable of needed to be exposed, and thus – after eyeing up the photo Frankie Lewis (Rose Ayling-Ellis) pinned on the noticeboard – she marched over to Linda’s once more.

Janine, however, got wind of Scarlett’s presence at Linda’s home and thus stormed over there before her daughter got the chance to spill the beans.

While she managed to prevent anything incriminating from being said, it’s clear that Janine was rattled by Linda’s line of questioning, as the landlady has started to suspect there is more to this than meets the eye.

With Mick (Danny Dyer) taking her away to meet Johnny (Sam Strike) and Lee (Danny-Boy Hatchard), Janine was on cloud nine – especially after managing to avoid the truth from coming out.

Scarlett, who was also coming along on the trip, hid Frankie’s photo inside Mick’s Die Hard DVD case, before setting off on the adventure.

The photo in question was taken in the Square gardens back in June, when Frankie enjoyed a night out with Lola Pearce (Danielle Harold).

Janine, however, can be visibly seen in the snap, behind the car lot – getting rid of her blood-soaked clothing following the crash.

With Linda on to Janine, will she discover the truth before Mick and Janine return? Or will it be Mick who, upon his comeback, finds the photo among his things?

Only time will tell, but with the truth hiding in plain sight, it’s likely only a matter of time before it all comes out!
